This is a piece for 2 flutes and a loop pedal. Inspired by living in London after spending 19 years of my life in small but wonderful Bratislava, Slovakia.

I originally wrote it for MoMa Duo but in this recording I'm performing it by myself.

Breathe In/Out LIVE from Darkly Artful

An unimaginative title, yes.. 

This piece is conversation between three sirens (Bassoon - Mollie Stallard, Cello - Sophie Cheng and Harp - Rosanna Rolton) and a storm (electronics).

A few times the bassoon and cello have been doubled in the electronics and manipulated. I have also used noises from the wind, poles, running water and harp glissandos. 

Thanks to you the musicians for playing so beautifully and coping with the electronic interference...!

Sarah has built her career in the cross path where the arts meets scientific research or more precisely, where digital technology meets healthcare. 

She graduated from the university of Kent with first class honours in anthropology. Following her degree she worked in the NHS before switching to the contemporary art world. 

In 2018 she founded Hatsumi, doing innovative work with technology for mental health and pain management. In this episode we’ll be discussing Sarah’s personal drive to work in this area and the value of creative thinking to drive change in taboo subjects and healthcare.
