With the 10th anniversary of the π project this year, Pi Electronics proudly presents the second Remixes 12” of the label’s various artists series, featuring remixed tracks from the “Divide & Rule” compilation.

Following the first record of this compilation remixes concept, “Variable Remixes” in 2021, we now bring you the second instalment: “Divide & Rule Remixes” (PEVA04).

Original tracks by Stave, Lycurgus, Kondaktor, and Elements of Joy are remixed by label favourites Samuel Kerridge, Templeyard Studios, Monrella, and Sawf.

From the IDM-leaning industrial/noise touch of British artist Samuel Kerridge and the dreamy/slow industrial sounds of Athens' Templeyard Studios on the A side, to the noise techno chaos of Birmingham’s Monrella (Mick Harris) and the sonic treatment of Greek techno pioneer Sawf on the B side, this release showcases four tracks for enthusiasts of different tastes, crafted by legends in their own right.

Together, @samuelkerridge and @maxim-barron conspire against the living with their electrifying new project, Death Disco. Drawing deeply from the rebellious roots of punk and the DIY ethos, the duo has crafted with their debut album ‘Death Notes’, a sense of urgency and authenticity. Samuel’s fierce vocal work and electronics gives the album an emotional depth that goes beyond its aggressive nature, while Maxim’s pulsating rhythms keeps cutting through the atmosphere with skin-stripping power.

Death Disco moves through different experiences and paces, carving out a unique norm in an equally unsettling and uncompromising sonic world.

We are very pleased to welcome Samuel Kerridge as our 47th guest on the Kaos London podcast series ahead of his brilliant new album 'Memoir of Disintegration' on Blueprint Records and live album premiere at the Kaos XXII x altar VII anniversary event hosted by Iklectik on November 13th. 

The British producer has been carefully turning techno inside-out for over a decade. Taking a distinctly post-punk approach to the genre, he has become an integral part of Regis' legendary imprint Downwards. Kerridge has helped to define the label's contemporary sound: broken techno and snarling punk, informed by industrial music and metal.

Kerridge ran the Berlin-based Contort label and party series and curated the legendary Berlin Atonal festival for three years, underlining his credentials as a stalwart figure in the world of experimental, boundary-pushing techno. He's also an accomplished live performer, most recently developing a hybrid live-DJ set that dismantles hundreds of tracks into a sampler to make new music in real time. It's an inventive process that places him in the lineage of iconic and groundbreaking techno acts, while still carrying the flag for the darkest corners of underground electronic music.

Samuel Kerridge emerged onto the music scene with remarkable force during the past decade, propelled by a meteoric rise that, from his very first releases, demonstrated significant artistic maturity. From the outset, his work conveyed solidity and depth; his feat, perhaps, lay in his ability to transfigure the codes of techno and adapt them to inhospitable sonic environments, all filtered through a unique and deeply personal vision.

This distinctive approach draws from a deliberately diverse spectrum of influences, ranging from drone and industrial music to post-punk, dark ambient, abstract electronics, and even metal riffs. It was this amalgamation of qualities, this powerful and singular sonic identity, that immediately marked him as a producer to watch and established him as a cornerstone of the influential label Downwards, founded by his compatriot Regis.

Now, Samuel Kerridge returns to reaffirm his status with Memoir of Disintegration, his sixth studio album. The work stands as a convergence point where the key experiences and influences that have defined his trajectory perfectly crystallize. Across eleven tracks, the author focuses on weaving complex rhythmic sequences based on polyrhythms, erecting industrial textures of tangible roughness, and applying granular sound treatments that flirt with the territories of noise. All of this is framed within corrosive ambient landscapes, creating an atmosphere of oppressive and hypnotic beauty.

Electronics, in their purest and most twisted form, act as the binding element, mixing masterfully with all these raw ingredients and endowing the whole with a sophisticated, cerebral IDM touch. Memoir of Disintegration stands out as a work of exceptional creativity and elaboration, an album that confirms Kerridge's evolution and solidifies his position as an essential and provocative visionary on the fringes of the contemporary electronic scene.

We are delighted to celebrate our 10th years anniversary with the British dj & producer Samuel Kerridge (Downwards Records // Blueprint Records).

Samuel Kerridge, with his signature sonic arsenal,  stands alone in the worlds of rhythm and noise. 
A singular artist, his music is to be appreciated on its own terms.

The British producer has been carefully turning techno inside-out for over a decade. 
Taking a distinctly post-punk approach to the genre, he has become an integral part of Regis' legendary imprint Downwards.
Kerridge has helped to define the label's contemporary sound: broken techno and snarling punk, informed by industrial music and metal.

Samuel Kerridge has released seven EPs and six albums (including a collaboration with Dva Damas' Taylor Burch) with his 2022 offering ‘’Kick To Kill’’, becoming something of a statement of intent, blossoming into a new label and event series with a focus that broadens beyond techno tracks into full-blown songwriting.

Aside from his solo work, he collaborates with OAKE in what he describes as the "power metal techno" duo UF, and has recently started his own guitar band, Death Disco.

Kerridge ran the Berlin-based Contort label and party series and curated the legendary Berlin Atonal festival for three years, underlining his credentials as a stalwart figure in the world of experimental, boundary-pushing techno.
