Sam Girling delivers the first instalment of his forthcoming 5-track EP.

Following on from 'Empty Flat in Berlin' & 'Go', which both received BBC Radio 1 airtime, as well as club support from the likes of Terr, Jimi Jules & Chloé Caillet, 'Can't Help U' is the debut EP of Sam Girling's newly formed record label, 'Attacca'. Sam sees the creation of 'Attacca' as taking back control of his vision and music; his own paradisiacal world for him to nurture and grow.

‘Can't Help U' is formed around a mixture of broken vocals, eerie bass tones and a need to feel something. The first half of the single builds on a melancholic note with the subtly growing percussive layers and fragmented vocal chops of 'Can't Help U'. The mood switches halfway as the body of the track is sucked out, leaving just the resonant bass, clap and vocal hanging in suspension before smashing back into the thick of it as a dance floor anthem.

Lifted from his forthcoming mixtape, 'Take Your Time' is the latest single. An undeniably standout piano weapon, it's a simple yet memorable moment on the record where each element commands its own lane. In Sam's words “This felt the most obvious track to extend and lead with as a single. TYT was made one sunny Saturday afternoon. I was heading to the pub soon after, which I why I think this track exudes a certain positivity”.

'Attacca' is the debut mixtape of Bedford-based electronic artist, producer and DJ Sam Girling. The 13 tracker is a reflection of Sam's creative output in its rawest form. The mixtape is written in tandem, with each track directly affecting the tempo, key and themes of the next.

“I discovered J Lloyd's 'Kosmos' mixtape early 2021. The concept was to write a full length project from start to finish with all the tracks interconnected. You handpick your favourite tracks when releasing music – people don't hear the other 99%. This project was an unfiltered flow of recording - I can't edit or delete the tracks I don't like. It feels very freeing to put something out there with the know that it's not perfect.”

Taking back artistic control, 2022 saw the launch of Sam's own label, 'Attacca', which he sees as his own 'paradisiacal world'. It begs the question, what came first: the label or the mixtape name? “Weirdly, the mixtape actually gave birth to everything. I recorded it back in my bedroom in May 2021 and landed on the musical term 'Attacca', meaning a musical directive for the performer to begin the next movement of a composition without pause. This summed up the mixtape concept perfectly and the more I sat with it, 'Attacca' started to sound like this utopian paradise where I get to create the storylines and rules.”

Berlin plays a pivotal role in the journey of Attacca. Talk of moving to the German capital in late 2021 sparked the creation of Sam's inaugural label release. “I was feeling flat with my artist project. A conversation about living in Berlin lit a flame within me and the track 'Empty Flat in Berlin' was created. I knew this was the first single back.”

Sam goes on to say: “I finally got around to visiting Berlin in September 2022 and had that moment. I've had unbelievable experiences on nights out but I still felt I was lacking that life changing moment so many artists talk about. It was a eureka moment, so unbelievably overwhelming – I'm sounding very cliché here but I'll never forget it. I came home with a
new perspective which essentially triggered me to feel that now is the right time to release this mixtape.”

2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for Bedford-born producer and DJ Sam Girling, whose emotive, club-ready sound is turning heads across the global electronic music scene. Blending euphoric textures with dancefloor grit, Girling’s music thrives in that sweet spot between emotional resonance and kinetic release—a sonic space where introspection meets hedonism.

His self-released debut EP came in 2022, earning nods from tastemakers like Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music), Jaguar (Radio 1), and Jack Saunders (Future Artists). But it was 2023’s viral club anthem Ankerklause (Is The Feeling Only Strong?) that truly shifted gears, garnering widespread acclaim and ultimately being crowned the Future Dance Track ID on BBC Radio 1.

That same year saw Girling make an ambitious leap from label owner to party promoter, launching Club Attacca—a DIY party concept born from his desire to inject new life into his underrepresented hometown of Bedford. “Attacca acts as my own paradisiacal world,” he explained. Since its inception, the event series has expanded to Liverpool and London.

Unreleased but widely circulated tracks soon followed, with support pouring in from underground heavyweights including Young Marco, DJ HEARTSTRING, Ben UFO, and Palms Trax. The mounting momentum culminated in a defining career moment: handpicked by Young Marco to close London’s revered FOLD nightclub—a testament to Girling’s rising status.
The young Bedfordian would soon follow with a standout release on Marco’s Safe Trip imprint: a four-track EP that further established Girling’s producing versatility, preceded by his sun-drenched single Post Cause Anthem, released via Disorder, which served as a peak-time staple throughout the summer, picking up significant DJ support.

Girling’s ascent has since taken him to revered stages including The Warehouse Project, Drumsheds, The Cause, Thuishaven, and Badaboum, with early 2025 marking another major milestone—his debut tour of Australia.
