⇸ The story of ‘Labyrinth, Lost In Techno 02’ ⇷

A rainforest sanctuary. A phenomenon neglected from every atlas.

Colours, shapes, creatures native to the sunburnt bushlands, fill the labyrinth. A truly distinctive display of vibrance. The passageway walls are penetrated by beams of light that set aglow greens and golds, purples and blue hues. Darkness occupies the leafy edge and ominous corners, shrouding the maze in thrill.

The journey takes many forms. The destination unbeknownst to those within the labyrinth, but the destination remains unimportant.

⇸ About 'Labyrinth, Lost In Techno 02' ⇷

Bassic Records’ second instalment of ‘Labyrinth, Lost In Techno’ showcases the definitive and colourful styles of Australian electronic dance music, ever growing in popularity. Influenced heavily by nature and the unique dance events that take place in the great outdoors, the sound takes form as progressive and psychedelic jaunts of techno and house, driven by emotive storytelling.

The 14 track compilation comprises of label stalwarts Doppel, Gabriel Moraes, Ark-E-Tech, Rainbird, TAYA, EEEMUS, John Baptiste, Käse Kochen, Monotreme, Victor Y, and collaborators Nanoplex (UK), Waveback (IT), Mud (IT/DE), Spintribe (RU), Diamandy (SE), Sandokan (IL), Charles Oliver, Biomass, Mecca, Samwise and Yokobus.

Sitting at an average of 125bpm, the compilation reaches a beefy 127 with ‘Spurge’ by Gabriel Moraes and is rounded off with the deep intricate closer, Mud’s ‘Mistakes’ at a neat 113bpm. Exploring an array of unique sub genres, some tracks can be identified as progressive techno, progressive house, psytech, deep techno, others are difficult to categorise into anything.

We call it ‘bush techno’.

No stranger to a dancefloor, Samwise was heavily involved in the old Melbourne hard trance scene, until he discovered the joys of psytrance and techno at his first rainbow. 

He took to producing six years ago, and has since performed twice at both Babylon and Strawberry Fields festivals, and regularly plays for Who Loves?, Bush Techno & Progression Sessions.

Fusing elements from a lifetime of music appreciation, he produces deep driving techno, with a minimalistic techy vibe and splash of Psy elements. His influences are the likes of Matt Sassari, Enrico Sanguiliano, Drunken Kong, Djoko just to name a few. 

With his strong bass lines and attention to detail, lhis live performances will always leave you wanting more - Samwise seems to produce a feeling that is sometimes hard to find in the concrete jungle.

A follow up VA to the debut of Mavic Music last year is a diverse compilation of music from around Australia. Mavic Music is exposing veteran Australian producers as well as developing it's future talent. These tracks have been extensively tested and there will certainly be a perfect sound for any dance floor situation amongst the pack.

The bushfires that ravaged our home of Australia between September 2019 - February 2020 are one of the most savage and disastrous natural events that the country has ever known.

Over 25.5 million hectares of land were burnt (110,000+ square kilometres), 3000+ homes destroyed, 30 people and more than 1 billion mammals, birds and reptiles died.

100% of the proceeds from each sale of Bushfire Aid VA Series Part 1 and Part 2 will officially go directly to the Australian Wildlife Conservency’s Bushfire Response Campaign, as they work tirelessly in the field to protect numerous species of animals that are now endangered and threatened due to the bushfire season disaster of 2019/20.

Upon donating, aside from the music you will also receive a pdf file from AWC themselves with specifics on the Bushfire Response Campaign that you will be supporting with your donation.

Bassic Records has banded together 34 of Australia’s best electronic music producers to create the Bushfire Aid VA Series - 27 tracks, across 2 albums, spanning deep melancholic electronica and house, through to dark and emotive progressive techno. Not one of us is unaffected by this disaster, be it directly, emotionally or chord struck within our soul.

Everyone involved in this release has donated their time and skills to this cause. Excited for this week's guest to be featuring on the SixthSense Australia platform. Fresh of the back of his epic album 'Invader' on Bassic Records, Samwise has decided to grace our sound-waves and treat your ears to celebrate this monumental release.

No stranger to a having a sick one on the dance-floor, our Samwise was heavily involved in the old school Melbourne hard trance scene a fair yonk ago. His fascination of music production stemmed from this as he was clearly influenced by various sub-genres of energetic dance music and the Australian festival scene. 

The last couple years has seen Sam become a source of quality techno wall-slappers as he has made a name a name for himself in our dense and vibrant Melbourne underground scene. With releases on Recovery Collective, Oxytech, Feather Print & Bassic Records he has pushed the envelope with the unique and twisted sub-genre of techno he creates and has inspired his peers around him. 

This SoundCast is an accurate representation of his deep, driving production styles. All tied in with a psychedelic twist of course ;)
