Shine On, You Crazy Diamond

A year ago the legendary 90watts label was taken over by Manual Music and woken up from the grave. In a relatively short period of time the label was placed firmly on the map again, with as an undoubted highlight the chart topping success of Kastis Torrau's remix for Jackie Mayden's 'Raver Crystals' single.

Now we're kicking off 2018 with two producers who have found the sound that captures 90watts' philosophy perfectly. Sandeep and Hollt drop two rugged club friendly cuts here on what marks their debut as a duo.

Sandeep is a familiar face in the Dutch electronic music landscape. A well respected DJ for many years- and driving force behind his monthly club night 'The Deep' at the infamous Toffler club in Rotterdam. 'Redemption' is his first ever release, and what a debut it is!

You might know Hollt from his releases on Amsterdam based label Madding Crowds. During his short career this rising star has already been supported by Marco Carola, Miss Melera, ANOTR and Matan Caspi to name a few. Keep an eye out for this guy, as a promising future lies ahead of him!

Having kicked off the year with the 'Redemption EP' together with Sandeep, the Dutch Hollt is now set to bring his 'Reach Out EP' as the 1st release on his newly-founded die Stube Records.

The three track EP features 'Reach Out', a drum driven beat with a solid fundament and a characteristic spacy break, after which it'll slam you right back to earth. 

'Miss Lead' is inspired by a mysterious woman that takes charge of her motions through life. The track contains a serious and rolling beat, and lays the focus on an acid melody.

That same hypnotic and acid melody is the basis for Sandeep's re-interpretation of 'Miss Lead'. His 'Into The Deep Mix' is taking the listener on an adventure with the signature warm and cozy sounds the Rotterdam-based DJ/Producer is known for.

Sandeep turned the ominous vibe of 'Melancholy' totally around. He molded it into something chill yet groovy. A deep tom sets the rhythm on which heavenly pads and angel-like voices seem to fly over. It's a track in which you slowly drift away and can only sink deeper and deeper into. A masterpiece that will do very well at a festival on the beach during the setting sun, for sure!

Magnitude Recordings is proud to show you the label debut by new kid on the block Sculptor. The artist from Moscow stood out in between the labels' demo submissions and Francesco Pico was more than happy to give him a podium to showcase his sound which resulted in 'Full Moon', the single you have in front of you right now.

'Full Moon' is a raw, chunky groover which blends mysterious vocal snippets with timeless psychedelic elements of progressive- and tech house. A proper peak time dance floor burner, ready to please many party goers and DJ's alike.

First up on remix duties it's Dutch veteran producer Namatjira who is known for his high quality output on labels such as Armada, Anjunadeep, Manual Music and Click Records to name a few. His stellar remix is sure to please the progressive house elite. It's a true delight as we've come to expect from this guy over the years.

The second remix comes from another Dutch industry veteran, though Sandeep only really started making serious work of his productions since the past year or so, immediately resulting in releases on 90watts, Aftertech Records and die Stube. His remix is deep and dreamy, a lovely flowing trip for the mind and a perfect contrast to the other two mixes on this single.

May it be the raw and chunky original, the proggy Namatjira version or the dreamy Sandeep interpretation, there truly something for everyone to enjoy on this one!

The release kicks off with ‘Above', a euphoric track designed for prime-time moments. The track’s groovy, yet sturdy start is followed by a compelling melody, after which the actual theme becomes apparent when the slightly darker bass line brings a new energy to the fold. Mid-track the energy unleashes full force, surely bringing the listener in a euphoric state of mind.

‘Distance’ is a warm, and laid back track that builds on an open atmosphere, where strings and solid drums are laying the foundation. The different layers of melody and a dark, yet compelling bassline are building, leading up to a characteristic break that evolves to a atmospheric climax. It’s a track heavily influenced by the long and deep sets both Hollt and Sandeep play in clubs like Toffler and Basis.

It took no less than 15 years of DJ’ing before Sandeep finally found his way to the studio, resulting in a remix for, and several collaborations with, die Stube Records founder Hollt. Sandeep’s long, deep, progressive and atmospheric sets have paved the way for his first ever solo EP, ‘The Deeper Dreamer’.

The EP kicks off with the story-telling ‘The Deeper Dreamer’, built on a solid foundation of drums, a slightly filtered kick and several dreamy synths and pads. With the delicate and dreamy original fitting for those longer sets in dark basement clubs, Hollt’s reinterpretation has a slightly coarse sound in comparison, yet making it a day-dreamy track for those hazy afternoons.

For Whom The Bells Toll is special collaboration between Sandeep and Australian based cellist Wilma. After having met online, the two artists worked together on this slightly melancholic, deep house an neo-classical music cross-over gem. Listening to the original during the night, the acoustic version will suit any Sunday morning.

What began as an event series in Basel, Wildfang Music soon shifted focus to releasing good music. "Be it dark and groovy tribal or melodically catchy deep house,” it has few restrictions other than quality. Today, the Swiss label gladly welcomes back one of its original contributors! Next up is Sandeep with his remix of 'Astat'. He took the chill from Astat to a new level. He carries you away on a very smooth and mesmerizing groove accompanied by heavenly pads and gentle synths. It is a track that will do very well on a festival with the setting sun in the background on the beach. An amazing remix by Sandeep!
