Nawar writes : "Selections were divided into two themes really: songs to inspire/uplift and others to evoke a sense of yearning for one's homeland. My motivation [to work on this mix] is pretty straight forward. I have a platform that I can use to help raise awareness about an issue that is almost literally at my doorstep (Dollarama across the street). We often hear about the struggle of migrant workers in places like Dubai etc., when we have something similar happening right here."

Nawar Al-Rufaie, also known as Sandhill, is an Iraqi-Canadian music producer based in Montreal, Canada. Having co-founded hip-hop outfit Euphrates alongside his late brother Nofy Fannan and The Narcicyst in the early 2000s, Nawar is a pioneer in blending classical Arabic quarternotes with boom bap. He has scored films such as Voices of Iraq and his music has been featured in major motion picture films such as Furious 7.
