Thoia Thoing (SΛNDLOT REMIX)

Haka samples a love song and a war chant "haka" from the Maori tribes native to New Zealand. This track follows the formation of the Whakarewarewa village in which a woman and a man meet at a tribal gathering, fall in love, and are forced to live separately across from Lake Rotorua. The man would sit on the edge of the water and play his flute every night, while the woman across the lake would listen. One night she swam 7 and half miles to him, ran away because their love was forbidden, and started their own village.

The coming together at the end is represented by the exotic bird sound in the track, the call of the Kiwi bird. The kiwi bird is one of the only birds that mate for life. They are extremely endangered in New Zealand and are currently in restoration and breeding facilities. I hope you enjoy!!
