The Yellomix runs for just over an hour, covering the period ’83-’85 - their most innovative in my opinion. It gives me the opportunity to re-visit one of my favourite artists of the early-mid-‘80s. I was a huge fan of the Swiss group back then, they were really pushing the boundaries of electronic music and I was absolutely blown away by their production sound. It’s truly epic stuff, almost Wagnerian in its assault – relentless, surprising and sonically shocking, bombarding our senses with its strangeness and brooding melancholy. Regardless of whether beat driven or ambient, their tracks built a tension unique to their sound, once you know who they are, that sound could only be Yello.

Fortsetzung deep story 151

Ich drehe das alte Radio auf volle Lautstärke und mein Fuß fängt an zu wippen. Schlagartig setzt das altbekannte Gefühl ein. Glückshormone durchströmen meinen Körper und mir kribbelt es im Bauch. Meine Gliedmaßen brechen aus ihren stumpfen gehirngesteuerten Schattendasein aus und erlangen Stück für Stück ihre Autonomie zurück. Aus dem Wippen des Fußes werden erste zaghafte Tanzschritte und mein schamgeleiteter Widerstand schwindet. Wenige Sekunden später sind meine Bewegungen bereits fließend und folgen einer erdachten Choreografie.
Mein spontaner Stimmungsausbruch gepaart mit der lauten Musik erregen schnell Aufmerksamkeit. Erste Menschen bleiben stehen und schauen interessiert zu. Bald darauf habe ich erste Mitstreiter auf der großen Wiese, welche uns als Tanzfläche dient. Die Musik zieht immer mehr Passanten des Parks an und nach und nach füllt sich die Wiese. In mir wächst das Gefühl, dass ich all diese Menschen mit meiner Freude angezogen habe und sie diese nun teilen. Eine unglaubliche Euphorie verbreitet sich in meinem Körper und der Geist des Aktionismus wächst in mir. Ich will diese Stimmung ausnutzen, um meiner Rolle als Botschafter der Musik gerecht zu werden. Flink wie eine Katze erklimme ich den nächstgelegenen Baum und bewege mich dort rhythmisch zur Musik weiter. Dort bleibe ich bis die Musik aus dem Radio verstummt und die Menge ein wenig ratlos zurück lässt. Ich ergreife das Wort und erkläre, dass man den Schöpfer dieser musikalischen Feinkost bald in der Nähe live erleben kann. Gemurmel macht sich unter den Leuten breit. Einige fangen an zu applaudieren. Nachdem ich Ort und Datum des nächsten ComRa Events mitgeteilt habe, erfahre ich viel Zustimmung. Viele der heutigen Tänzer wollen vorbeikommen und mit mir dort weiterfeiern.

deep story nr. 152 | good old times | by Sahar Z

Sieg oder Walhalla

Die Ruhe vor dem Sturm wird durchbrochen durch ein lautes Klopfen. Metall schlägt auf Metall und Holz. Die Frequenz der Schläge nimmt kontinuierlich zu, ebenso wie die Lautstärke. Es müssen hunderte, vielleicht auch um die tausend Schwerter und Äxte sein, die immer wieder gegen die Schilder ihrer Träger schlagen. Zu den Geräuschen der Waffen gesellt sich ein leiser aber eindringlicher Singsang. Mit einem unaufhaltsamen Crescendo schwillt die Geräuschkulisse zu einem barbarischen Getöse an. Die Anspannung entlädt sich mit angriffslustigen Schreien und die Meute setzt sich in Bewegung. 
Auf der anderen Seite der grasbewachsenen Ebene stehen mit schlotternden Knien die sächsischen Verteidiger. Sie sehen verstört und ängstlich aus. Auf sie stürzt sich eine todesmutige Armee, von bis auf die Zähne bewaffneten Wikingern. Die nachfolgende Schlacht ist mörderisch. Sachsen fallen unter den aggressiven Hieben der normannischen Streitäxte. Krieger mit gehörnten Helmen vergehen in einer Flut aus Pfeilen und Speeren. Trotz hoher Verluste auf beiden Seiten, ist es ein ungleicher Kampf. 
Die Nordmänner metzeln sich in ihrem Blutrausch unaufhaltsam durch die feindlichen Linien. Schlußendlich unterliegen die Briten und fliehen panisch, vor den siegreichen Kindern Odins. 

Wākhan gibt heute einen musikalischen Epos zum besten. Die basslastigen Percussions erzeugen eine magische Rhythmik. Die lieblichen Vocals versetzen ihre Hörer in Trance. Satt wie Met aus einem Füllhorn schallt der KataHaifisch Podcast 190 aus allen erdenklichen Klangerzeugern und verzückt seine gespannte Zuhörerschaft.

KataHaifisch Podcast 190 - Wākhan

This February we bring to you a groovy, idm set by UK artist Mattr, whom we had the pleasure of supporting with two premieres in late 2020. It's both an uplifting and warm mix of triphop and grungy idm sounds, perfect for the times that we currently live in. While half of the world is not just experiencing winter but also a pandemic, we feel this set really sets the tone for this winter with a genre that we are really into these days. With its timeless progressions and groovy breakbeats, it makes these wintery moments quite enjoyable. Mattr brings with him a quality and classy set to fill this space for us on Getting Deeper, and we are very thankful to have the opportunity to host his mix. Mattr aka Matthew Clugston is a leftfield house, breaks, and techno producer as well as a superbly talented motion graphics artist from Birmingham, now living in London. With residencies dating back to his hometown at Code with Steve Lawler as well as supporting gigs for Sasha & Danny Tenaglia, Mattr would share decks with the likes of Tale of Us & Jamie Jones before hosting his own events with fellow innovator and Getting Deeper favourite - Alex Banks - as well as Maxxi Soundsystem, and XXXY, to name a few. It was from there that he made the move to Berlin to study music production & performance and where he'd form a friendship with label partner, Max Winstanley (Lewyn Stan)who he paired up with to launch their Helical Scan imprint.

After years honing his sound, Matthew went on to release his first album along with several other productions on Faceless Recordings, TrippyCode, Ozono, and CRR, garnering support from Amé, Guy Gerber, Anja Schneider, Nick Warren, Rodriguez Jr, & the legendary Laurent Garnier.

25 years after first cutting his teeth DJing tech house & breaks, Mattr's broad musical palette often draws him closer to the more emotive side of electronic music, finding deep resonance with forward-thinking artists like Max Cooper, Jon Hopkins, Tourist, Overmono, Fourtet, Phon.O and Radioactive Man, whom you'll often hear in his consistent & beautifully diverse mix series.

Meine Aktion im Park hatte viel Aufmerksamkeit erregt. Ich bin mir sicher der Musikwelt damit etwas Gutes getan zu haben und bin übermäßig vergnügt. Meine Berufung zum Botschafter der Musik hat meine Lebensgeister und meine Kreativität beflügelt. Ich habe das Gefühl anzukommen, eine Aufgabe für mich gefunden zu haben. Einen Weg mit dem ich mit meinen Fähigkeiten die Welt etwas besser machen kann.
Während ich so gedankenverloren durch die Straßen schlendere, meldet sich mein Körper zu Wort. Mein Gang wird immer langsamer und meine Augen immer schwerer. In den letzten Tagen kam der Schlaf wohl doch etwas zu kurz. Eigentlich weiß ich gar nicht mehr, wann ich das Letzte Mal einen vernünftigen Schlaf hatte. Ich versuche mich zu erinnern, aber ich kann nur ein paar Tage rekapitulieren. Ab einen gewissen Zeitpunkt in der Vergangenheit, sieht mein inneres Auge nur noch schwarz. Wahrscheinlich bin ich einfach übermüdet und nicht mehr zu geistigen Höchstleistungen fähig. Ich beschließe mich endlich mal richtig auszuschlafen. Doch vorher muss nochmal kurz meine Mails checken. 
ComRa hat mir geschrieben und gratuliert zur gelungenen Promo-Aktion im Park. Sie meinen ich wäre ein Mann mit Visionen. Botschafter mit so viel Leidenschaft können sie gut vor Ort beim nächsten Event gebrauchen. Nähere Informationen folgen demnächst.
Ich lasse mich erschöpft aber glücklich auf mein Bett fallen und schließe meine Augen. In meinem Kopf beginnt sofort Musik zu spielen. Innerhalb weniger Minuten träume ich mich an einen lauten Ort mit vielen Menschen.

Unsere neue deep story soll euch an die Hand nehmen und euch musikalisch begleiten während ihr für einen Moment die Augen schließt und euch an einen anderen Ort träumt.
