First of all, I would like to thank PureMix for giving me the opportunity to mix “Oh Baby” by Liza Colby. Recorded live, the great song shows perfect separation of instruments. I did the mixing on Steinberg Cubase 5. I do not own any expensive hardware gear and the only hardware gear I used is a customized analog summing box.
For drums I used parallel compression. Since the drums were recorded without any mic on toms, I had a hard time managing the toms. I did not process the guitar part much, because it had already been recorded with guitar processor(s). Just to give it a stereo effect I doubled up the guitar track with 20 ms delay in the right channel and using stereo widener plug-ins in guitar group buss.
For vocals, I used three reverbs (such as room, plate, and hall). Additionally, to make the vocals sound better, I used some delay. For vocal equalization I used HPF at 115 hz (stiff cut) 24 db/octave and boost 16.5 khz 4 db. Then I used De-Esser at 8 khz. I cut the frequency at 1.5 khz -8 db (notch filter) and boosted the 13-khz range approximately at 5 db. For compression the ratio was 2:90:1 and the makeup gain was around 7 db at the threshold of -18 db. The attack and release were 2.50 ms and 7.00 ms respectively. 
I processed amp-bass and DI-bass separately and sent them to one group buss. I used a side-chaining compressor with large amount of makeup gain.
After processing the tracks, I re-recorded the drums, bass, vocals, and guitar separately through my homemade analog summing box, and then mixed it down to Stereo,44.1 khz 16bit.WAV file.
In the master buss section I used nothing but a limiter and that too for the purpose of occasional peak limiting. I tried to keep the final level of the mix at an average of -16 dbFS RMS. I did not do any EQ or compression in the master buss section because the contest is for mixing, not for mastering. However, I tried my best to keep the mix flat.
