Myles Mac has been adding colour to Melbourne’s electronic music scene for over a decade now. His presence is felt across a number of seminal productions: from the Lost Weekend parties at Boney – where a few of Waxflower’s own shared late nights and sweaty mornings – to his pairing with DJ Camov and the formation of Project 95 and, of course, the world renowned Melbourne Deepcast label and mix series responsible for showcasing local and international artists. Myles stands out from the crowd as a consummate curator of feel good times.

Big Mac played amazing mixes for us at Waxflower throughout his residency. This one provides a glimpse into his exceptional taste, sleuthing between jazzy vibes and street soul and hip hop. No doubt if we locked the doors and begged him to keep playing we would have ended up deep in Mac’s first love: house. Shifting gears and pleasing ears – that’s Myles Mac.

Here's what I wrote 7 years ago:

I was about to post this beautiful summer mix of Tako with the following words:

"What do you expect from a mix when it's done by a supernice guy with an excellent taste in music and a wonderful record collection? Yeah and that's exactly what you get here. Also make sure to get a copy of the first 12" of the Sombrero Galaxy, released on Lovefingers long awaited ESP Institute. Sombrero Galaxy is the collabo between Tako and Jonny Nash and their "Journey to the center of the sun" is one of my favourite releases of the last years, cheers!"

That was yesterday. In the meantime something terrible happened. Tako's friend Petros Malevis from Athens passed away without a warning. This mix is dedicated to Petros! He will be missed. Rest in peace, Petros.

A four hour (Extended Mix) from Dea Barandana, one of Indonesia's most celebrated DJs and record collectors, resident at Potato Head Bali and, according to Gilles Peterson, mastermind behind "the best DJ set I've heard in 10 years."

(Extended Mix) is a new charitable series that celebrates all-night specialists and more simple, carbon-friendly lineups. Instead of paying on the door for this extended experience, we invite listeners to donate to the DJ directly while their gigs are cancelled, or to a chosen charity. For this one Dea has opted for the African Wildlife Foundation.
