◍ What is the inspiration and vision behind your work as Nexcyia?
✹ The Nexcyia project has always been focused on experimental/ambient music. I think the inspiration and vision changes seasonally! I have moments where I focus on themes of alienation, loneliness and vulnerability and then I have points in time where my compositions are bit more free-flowing and minimal almost with a more illbient / dubby side. I’ve been adding more beats recently but currently feel like recording relaxed soundscapes for reading, walking, chilling and cooking.

◍ Describe some of your utopian dreams for us *･ﾟ:⋆*･ﾟ
✹ Well this is an interesting question because between 2015-2017 I had an obsession with “Astral Projections” and/or “Outer Body Experiences, (OBE)” I did some crazy research and was able to initiate these experiences! I think the most intense one was of me flying around my room and trying to break-out of my window! lol

◍ Any exciting things coming up that you’d like to share?
✹ Couple cool things coming up! I’m starting 3-month Residency at Noods Radio end of August - in September got 4 shows! 3 in London and one in Oslo, Norway. I’ve never been to Norway so i’m super excited.

DJ Naygod's Soular Power continues to evolve with the intention of connecting themes surrounding collective healing through nature, science, and music - all of which I feel deeply connected to. 

Here is a Sunday morning mix of contemplative and soothing sounds made with the goal of remedying solastalgia I've been feeling. The word ‘solastalgia’ is a kind of homesickness one feels when their home has been altered and feels unfamiliar due to chronic environmental change. 

As our homes irrevocably change, the memory of what once was must live within us. In this mix, I dream of the livelihood of a healthy ecosystem, layering in feelings of nostalgia, yearning, and reflection through lyricism, jazz elements, and dubby atmospheres.

"I recently interviewed Irish-speaking rap group Kneecap, and after my piece was published, DJ and broadcaster Cian Ó Cíobháin emailed me, wondering if I’d heard his RTÉ Radio Irish-language show An Taobh Tuathail (The Other Side). I hadn’t, and, blimey, I’ve been missing out. ATT is an aural feast: Ó Cíobháin’s personal choice of alternative music, from Broadcast to Beth Gibbons to weird, droney jazz, strange spoken word and beyond. All the tracks are listed in the notes, and for a non-Irish speaker like me, Ó Cíobháin’s links are a delight: gorgeous to listen to, and it’s quite relaxing not to understand what’s being said. The show has been going, Monday to Friday, for almost 25 years, so there’s quite the back catalogue (around 10 years’ worth) to meander through. An absolute treasure trove. Highly recommended."
