At the time i wrote this music (pre Celtic Tiger days) I was concerned with homelessness in Dublin City,particularly of young people. One day I say someone on the street I recognised from childhood. There was no recognition in their eyes for me. It made a deep impression and I thought how our lives are affected so differently and how our paths can lead to different outcomes. This music "Tommy Donnybrook" is written about a person who as a young person had all life's opportunities, who danced and strutted their stuff, who played sport at the highest level and was academically good. Then at some point drugs came into his life and his road changed. This movement "Struttin' His Stuff" is about Tommy in his late teenage years on the dance floor strutting his stuff, vital and so alive.
