DJ HISTORY: The first place Andy DJ`d was in the 6th form common room and didn`t play out again until into his 40s...dancing always came first! The SUNK parties in London were a launch pad, co-hosting with Chris Chippindale and Truly Madly. Andy has played at various venues up and down the UK - with upcoming bookings at "Funk In The Forest" Brithdir Hall in Welshpool, Wales and "MLD goes live - Dub & Techno infused Festival" in Premnitz, Germany.

DJ HISTORY: Keith`s experience DJ'ing out goes back to Eurobeat 2000 at Frankie D`s iconic club in London - his ability was recognized and he would go on to play at some of the capital`s biggest club`s - The End, Ultimate Base, Hardware and Analogue City - getting the opportunity to share the decks with legends Claude Young, Derrick May and DJ Rush.

Keith continues to DJ and support's quality underground music via his website, "Electronic Convergence" - using the platform to host live sets, daily mix shows, reviews and charts - bringing together likeminded individuals who share the same passion for electronic music.

INSPIRATION: The sound of 80`s Electro sparked Keith`s interest in percussive drum beats, handclaps, cowbells and the vocoder - fascinated by this futuristic sound, Keith bought his first two Electro 12`s, Herbie Hancock "Rocket" and "Jam On It" by Newcleus - a healthy obsession blossomed and Keith went on a mission to buy all the classic Electro tracks on 12" inch. The end of the 80`s brought Chicago Acid House and Techno from Detroit to the UK -  both styles as unique and alien sounding as each other and a logical progression on from the sounds present in 80`s Electro - Keith was hooked. 

Keith draws inspiration from DJ`s who appreciate quality music and have a natural ability to mix records well. Expressing a lot of admiration and respect for DJK, Leah Floyeurs, Ben Sims and DJ HAZY.

Crazy Rhythms were Dan Selzer and Mike Simonetti. They DJ'd sometimes. Mike was partial to old-school hip-hop that sounds likes disco and dirty, dirty house music and Dan was partial to gay electronic disco and new wave that sounds like house music. They both like Post-Punk and Acid, and they invented No Wave. Their beatmatching skills were impeccable, but used sparingly. They have DJ’d at all the cool clubs and some of those crazy Brooklyn loft parties you only read about.

In 94, Mike founded Troubleman Unlimited Records and is now the label par-excellence for cutting edge hipster sounds such as Erase Eratta, Glass Candy and Tussle. In 99, Dan founded Acute Records to reissue lost art-punk from the late 70s like the Theoretical Girls, Metal Urbain and the Prefects. While they were both well known and regarded for their collection of punk 7″s, they’d also like to be known for their 12″s.

By the end of the 90s, they decided it was time to teach the punks how to dance. Mike started Contort Yourself at the Knitting Factory and Dan began Transmission at Plant bar with Luke from the Rapture. It seemed like something was in the air, a post-punk disco-funk zeitgeist. Due to the sudden popularity of such sounds, the Crazy Rhythms crew became the most sought-after DJs EVER. Dan was voted “Best DJ’s DJ” in the Village Voice and Mike became a resident in Ibiza where Paul Oakenfold recently opened for him.

The mix you hold in your hands was recorded during a time when there was nobody who would say, “man, Italo-disco is played out” or “don’t you know that track is on so-and-so’s mix/an import bootleg/a CitiBank commercial?” No, those were more innocent times. It features Italo-Disco, New Wave, Post-Punk, No Wave, Actual-Disco, Danish Remixes of Glam One-Hit Wonders from ex-Bubblegum Artists, you know, all the same stuff everyone else plays. Of course thes records are all original pressings, M/NM quality, light scuffs on the b-side and a bit of surface noise on the play out groove.

We’re back with another Seaside returnee and someone who always puts in a shift, whether playing in or out. It’s perhaps best that Finn himself explains this one. 

"I contributed a mix for the cherished Mnml Ssgs in 2012 which consisted mainly of fast paced Detroit Electro tunes. The main reason was that I had never done a mix like that and Chris Hobson from the blog had not hosted one yet either. Another reason was that I was working at Hard Wax then and often overheard people in the store disrespecting the genre, mostly because they claimed the sound palette of Electro was too limited to really matter in terms of musicianship. I did not agree with that. 

Anyway, we went for it and the mix became surprisingly popular. In fact it is probably the most played mix I have ever done. And I have done quite a few… More recently I purchased a lot of Electro that was equally fast paced, but with a Disco and Funk flavour. I thought it would be an interesting idea to add some tunes that did not fit the first time round, and do a sequel. Hosted within a mix series of a comparable quality, like Seaside. So here it is. I hope you like it.”
