Our penultimate release on Ready Mix for 2017 comes from Portuguese duo Maria and Luis, making their label debut under the 'Ohxalá' moniker to present us with their latest triple tracker 'Sereias do Planeta Vermelho EP'.

The title track 'Sereias do Planeta Vermelho' reflects the pair's obsession with ancient instruments and traditional sounds from Brazil, Africa, Portugal and beyond. Jungle sounds play with tribal percussion and haunting flutes, punctuated by subtle electronic touches in this hypnotic and idiosyncratic chill-out gem.

Also making his Ready Mix debut, spiritual sonic explorer and maker of 'shamanic psychedelia', Lemurian turns in a scintillating remix, making the most of the exotic parts and adding a few of his own to build a soul-stirring Deep Tech bubbler.

Second original track, 'O Barulho do Gizo da Cobra' blends eastern percussion with birdsong and a Brazilian spoken word vocal to create a sumptuous and languid vibe, reminiscent of Thievery Corporation.

On remix duties, nomadic Latin producer MiRET adds a hypnotic hangdrum and some heavier percussion to suit the deepest sunset sessions.

For the final original track 'Berimbal Regionau', Ohxalá once again blend instrumentation from across the globe with somewhat darker electronic touches to create something that sounds almost like acoustic dubstep.

Supplying the final remix of the package, Chilean musician and producer Rodrigo Gallardo takes the track into a flute frenzy over potent organic rhythms and guitars.

The Swiss producers started their musical journey around 10 years ago, trying out different styles such as Hip Hop & House and finally found their true passion in organic Downtempo Music. The both released on Trndmsk & Finebeatz and tracked down MÒNADA through a lovely synchronicity. Now their brand new gem is echoing through the MÒNADA matrix.

Mujia & Tajo experimented with the rich and calming sound of the gorgeous hang pan drum of Markyño's orginal and created a dreamy yet danceable composition.
Organic music converges here with lively beats into a special downtempo fusion.

With the second single of his upcoming EP "Gran Tribulación", Oceanvs Orientalis crafted a gorgeous remake of one of the most famous Arabic poems, the fascinating Lamma Bada Yatathanna.This 12th Century Andalusian song, sung by Qiyans Krets, now meets the digital world after years of creative process. Hauntingly beautiful melody and words meet Oceanvs Orientalis' groove that quickens the heartbeats. The artist dedicates this track to the people and their families who are affected by the Beirut explosion.

On Lilium we see the journey Daniel has made from his first EP, a widening of his horizons and a honing of his unique production style. Each track is at once natural, danceable, warm textured but also electronic and fit for the (virtual) dancefloor.

A TWICE TOLD TALE

One fine autumn day, Santi (from Asunción, Paraguay) and Tuğçe (from Istanbul, Turkey) have crossed paths in a small town in the middle of the “heartland” US. From this moment on, their lives have become webs of inquiry and revelation as they have jointly devoted forces to mastering the art of musical storytelling. Drawing on a wide palette of ideas and influences, Santi & Tuğçe have created an enchanting world with their music in which the characters are driven by passion and a zest for life. A world where mythical creatures return home after an epic quest to an island surrounded by land, where a wise woman prepares potions to heal the poet, the dreamer, and the disillusioned; where planets collide and create new patterns in the cosmic swirl; where two starry-eyed lovers sail away on a sea turtle spaceship to places unknown; and where self-aware, compassionate robots resolve ancient paradoxes in their mission to rescue humanity.

On this fine autumn day, thirteen years after their fortuitous encounter, Santi & Tuğçe, now based in the ‘center of electronic music’ Berlin, present their latest musical odyssey:  “A Twice Told Tale”. Filled with unmistakable charm and complexity, “A Twice Told Tale” conjures up stories that connect with something deep within the listener. Told with emotional intensity and intricacy, these are songs for and about everyone.

The first track, “Hikâye” (“Tale”) tells a long tale, a tale that is “a little naïve, a little rebellious, and a little tender”. Life is fleeting, leaves will fall, colors will fade, and before we know it, it will be time to depart from this beautiful earth. Yet the tale we have lived to tell and the love we have lived for will remain. 

The second track, “Kuyu” (“The Well”), offers a peak into the deep, invisible corners of the heart, full of yearning and eternal questions, to which no one knows the answers. After all, “who has seen and who has brought news from the dark shore across?” 

The third track, “Bulut” (“Cloud”), describes the perpetual cycle of change and metamorphosis in nature through the imagery of a playful cloud that rises from the seas to clear blue skies, and goes on a multicolored journey “perhaps towards the water, perhaps towards the earth, or perhaps towards a poem”.

Santi (from Asunción, Paraguay) and Tuğçe (from Istanbul, Turkey) left their homes to follow their dreams of music and have been road companions and musical partners for more than a decade. Currently based in Berlin after many years of living in the US where they first met, they each bring a vibrant mosaic of influences and ideas from all over the world: soulful melodies, colorful instrumentation, dreamy harmonies, and surgically engineered dance-floor beats, informed by years of Santi’s training in music composition and computer science along with Tuğçe’s studies in jazz vocals and creative writing. To this date, they have performed in many major electronic and world music festivals, clubs, theaters, and concert halls throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America and received critical acclaim worldwide (e.g. Oye! on NPR’s “Latin Roots: Best Alternative Songs of 2019”, Songs for my Grandmother among Beehype’s “Best Albums from Turkey” in 2017).
