Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

At the very hub of this wheel which is falling apart, is Beauty. And it will keep on rolling until everything that has gone to make up the wheel has disintegrated. In their recent album “A Twice Told Tale” Santi & Tuğçe tell timeless tales full of wonder and yearning for life despite the transience of all things. With “A Twice Told Tale – Reworks” a new cast of storytellers comes on board and takes these tales in new directions. Faithful to the heart of the original, yet full of creative spark, each new interpretation offers us new surprises. In this first chapter, Istanbul based producer Oceanvs Orientalis presents a bold, fiery retelling of “Kuyu” (The Well) which offers a peak into the deep, invisible corners of the heart, while Berlin based producer Martin Roth presents a mellow, mesmerizing retelling of “Bulut” (The Cloud) which describes the perpetual cycle of change and metamorphosis in nature.

Santi & Tuğçe - Kuyu - Oceanvs Orientalis Rework

Santi (from Asunción, Paraguay) and Tuğçe (from Istanbul, Turkey) left their homes to follow their dreams of music and have been road companions and musical partners for more than a decade. Currently based in Berlin after many years of living in the US where they first met, they each bring a vibrant mosaic of influences and ideas from all over the world: soulful melodies, colorful instrumentation, dreamy harmonies, and surgically engineered dance-floor beats, informed by years of Santi’s training in music composition and computer science along with Tuğçe’s studies in jazz vocals and creative writing. To this date, they have performed in many major electronic and world music festivals, clubs, theaters, and concert halls throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America and received critical acclaim worldwide (e.g. Oye! on NPR’s “Latin Roots: Best Alternative Songs of 2019”, Songs for my Grandmother among Beehype’s “Best Albums from Turkey” in 2017).
