ARTBAT @ Bondinho Pão de Açúcar for Cercle

This is the last DJ set I did before the COVID-19 crisis hit my country. It was recorded at my friend Jorge’s birthday in Valencia the 7th of March, from 2:30 AM to 5:48 AM. It’s a 100% birthday party set —for mates who are into music, but mostly wanted to have a good laugh while dancing their asses off—, so at first I thought it wouldn’t fit the current state of what’s going on in the world.

A day after, for the first time in my life, I started quarantine —to ‘flatten the curve’ a bit. And a couple of days ago, while finding new ways of overcoming extreme boredom and concern, I started to realise that uploading a birthday party set might be a cool chance to cheer up some of my friends, who are also confined in their homes, every one of them with they’re own financial and personal worries.

I’m missing that weekend so much, and I’m missing all the past weekends and all the days I’ve been living until today. I’d love to go out, take a walk, hug my loved ones and even the not so loved ones. But hospitals are collapsed and this will grow exponentially because our government took things as seriously as they usually do —not very.

So please, if you are in an affected area, stay at home as much as possible —this means going out just for food or a short walk with your dog—, help and take care of the most vulnerable, don’t be afraid of looking too paranoid (if you never had before now is the time: it’s a bit of a guilty pleasure) and wash your hands a lot. And as Arnold Schwarzenegger said: “Listen to the experts, ignore the morons. We will get through this together”.
