Lissajous figures are beautiful, looping patterns created when you plot two oscillations at right angles to each other. The shapes depend on the frequency and phase of each wave — sometimes you get tight, elegant loops, sometimes wide open patterns.

They're named after a 19th-century French physicist, Jules Antoine Lissajous, who studied how different frequencies interact visually. People used to create them by reflecting light off mirrors attached to tuning forks, which would oscillate and draw patterns in the air.

In modern terms, you might see Lissajous curves if you hook up two sound signals to an oscilloscope: the screen shows how they overlap, where they synchronize, where they differ, all in this hypnotic, flowing motion. 🎶

Bas Mooy (1976) has been a driving force in the international techno scene for over twenty
five years. Hailing from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, he has carved out a distinct niche with
his dark, powerful, and uncompromising sound. As a DJ, producer, and label owner, Mooy
continues to shape the future of techno with a fierce dedication to quality and innovation.

For almost twenty years Bas was a member of the Rotterdam underground collective ‘Strictly
Techno’, creators of over a hundred legendary parties since the late nineties. Since the start
of Mord Records the focus shifted towards hosting label nights all over the world, in
legendary clubs such as Berghain (Berlin), Basement (New York), Fold (London), Perron
(Rotterdam) and Tresor (Berlin).

Mooy’s productions have found a home on some of the genre’s most respected labels,
including Mote-Evolver, 47, Pole Group, Perc Trax, Planet Rhythm, and his own imprints,
Mord and Audio Assault. Launched in 2013, Mord quickly became a vital platform for cutting-
edge techno, showcasing both established artists and fresh talent from around the globe.
With its raw, industrial aesthetic and consistently forward-thinking releases, Mord has
solidified its place at the forefront of the underground.

As a performer, Bas Mooy is known for his intense, high-energy DJ sets that span the
spectrum of dark, hypnotic, and driving techno. He has performed at some of the world’s
most renowned clubs and festivals.

Whether in the studio, behind the decks, or curating his label’s next release, Bas Mooy
remains to constantly push the sound forward, while staying true to its underground roots.
With Mord Records turning 12 in 2025, Bas shows no sign of slowing down.

Born and raised in Rome, Luigi Tozzi is undoubtedly one of the most prolific and outstanding talents of his generation to come out of Italy. Slip into any record store worth its salt, or clubs from Tbilisi to Lisbon and you’ll find traces of his work there; his signature sound has sold its share of records true, but also deeply influenced the work of many of his contemporaries. His expansive compositions intimately tied to the space they’re heard in, circling in perfect arcs below the water’s surface, where sunlight becomes scarce and a connection with sound paramount. Reformulating not only dub. techno and ambient, but a trove of memories diving off the coast of Sicily’s neighbour Salina (and with the help of analog digital tools, VSTs and controllers during live performances), Tozzi has developed a mastery for hypnotic rhythms like nothing you’ve heard before. His close working relationship with Swedish output Hypnus, as well as Outis and Non-Series have pushed his aquatic sound to it’s absolute limit, creating a world of poignant textures that have given his genre the gift of new horizons. Here he visits the Podcast for an epic 128 minutes that delve into his abyssal world, haunting rumbles and immersive techno, a ghostly, shimmering live-set recorded at Bassiani.
