I designed the clips to correlate with the characteristics and emotions in phrases of the piano piece, as well as the overall context of it's title.

Finally! I used to do countless hours of busy piano improvisations during my piano studies, even in my piano concertos and other performances for audiences. 
But this is my first ever accomplished combo of finished composition & HQ audio quality of recorded solo piano actually. 
It's also the first composition I'm using Soundiron's "Emotional Piano" on.

Now that this composition IS finalized, it might also be aimed to be included in either a media project or a personal full length album, or both.

Most of the notes are recorded live, using my MIDI keyboard, but there are lots of post-editing, both for the composition and for the note tweaks. Velocity, timing and additional notes.

Originally recorded using East West Quantum Leap - Pianos Gold (Bechstein grand), but I decided to use "Emotional Piano" piano software library from Soundiron by now.

I had to adjust a lot to make it sound the way it was intended, also for the different sample sets with the new software library.
But it was much easier to shape phrases to sound naturally, compared to EWQL Pianos anyway, IMO. So it was well worth the additional hassle.

The later part for this composition was based on a live improvisation I did, while the first sections were composed through trial and error, based on hand positionings and chord progressions.

A good deal of the arpeggio techniques is inspired by Rachmaninov, my favourite piano composer. (due to the deep adoration I have for the musical and emotional qualities, much more than the famous technical aspects of his)

Other inspirations for this composition were the feeling of a strong connection with nature; 
and (hopefully, eek) -an even stronger connection with my wife.

The repeated main motf, with it's chord progression and melody combo was something I came up years ago.
Musically speaking, I aimed for something that would sound very emotionally connecting, yet not so similar to anything I've heard before. So that was a big challenge and a lot of hard work for it back then, trying to achieve both aims at the same time.

"Comfort Ye... Every Valley" (from "Messiah" & "Torna a Surriento (Canzone Napolitana).wav

This song cycle is the composer's most recent work, for Solo Tenor Voice, Clarinet in A, Oboe, Horn in F, and Pianoforte.  It is an intimate, vulnerable and celebratory exploration of Queer male love, that does not resort to coding in excess.  The language, while formal, centres Queer male love as not just physical intimacy, but life- and world-building, cosmic, even, but most importantly, sacred; demanding visibility amid a global sentiment of forced invisibility.  It reimagines the song cycle in terms of 21st century openness, and individual and collective pride.  The work can be demanding of performers from both a technical and interpretive perspective; but make no mistake, those technical challenges are meant to embody the very real, lived realities that SGL and Queer men have to navigate in their daily lives, particularly in countries where rights for those communities are practically non-existent, as in the composer's native land.  The work comprises three individual pieces:

1.  Skin (Voice, Clarinet, Pianoforte)
2.  When I Wake (Voice & Pianoforte)
3.  Aeternum (Voice, Oboe, Horn, & Pianoforte)

The score also features individual dedications that deepen the emotional landscape of each piece.

It's a long track, but it's split into 3 unique sections that tie together. The thought process was to follow the growth and emotions of the woman in the drawing.
