We are happy to announce the Debut EP of the Berlin based band duo YEAH BUT NO. „The Shadow Self“ is an album project from the newly assembled band who’s declared aim is to allow its listeners a deeper understanding of music. The multilayered sound savours the melancholic spectrum; deeper and darker tones set the perfect stage for profound lyrics. 

„Electronic music is our background.“, Alex says. „We linked classic song structures with distinctive, immersive sounds that open up a world for Fabian’s lyrics.“ The lyrics capture perfectly these fragile, dark emotions that move us unconsciously - may it be the loss of love, disappointment or an unhealthy, dark obsession. 

The original version of „Perished“  and „Curse“ are accompanied by remix version from no one less than Trikk and Mathias Schober.  The internationally acclaimed producer and DJ Trikk - not only known for his work with Dixon & Âme’s Innervisions label, but also as a representative of the next generation of underground house music - hits the nail on the head with his interpretation of „Perished“. Keeping the melancholic mood of the original, he managed to create a super catchy and grooving 4-to-the-floor version. The remix is already being hyped since its first plays on DJ’s sets from Dixon, Mind Against, Denis Horvat, Agoria, Adriatique, Alex Niggemann & Trikk himself.

Mathias Schober is an artist artist with an exceptional sense of clarity and presence in his work. His reworks of „Curse“ lay to focus on the vocal and create a stripped back, spacious and dub influenced fundamental. The instrumentation eerie enough to accompany the lyrics, the groove strong enough to work on its own.
 
The album "The Shadow Self“ is released in several parts on DISTANT ECHOS  - a new label that defines itself as a bastion of quality and a broad musical variety with leanings towards Electronica and Neo Pop. The label kicked off their journey with the debut EP from Maltese Duo KNTRL “JUST WORDS“, which was released on the 6th of August.

After the success of the first edition in 2016, we decided to make Unfold and ongoing Various Artists compilation series. The second volume is another carefully curated mix of new label signings and more established names. The nine stylish tracks cover lush deepness, silky synths and hooky melodies that provide a real listening experience, no matter the context.

The first volume of Unfold featured the likes of Applescal's 'Harmony Two,' which became a big hit with DJs and has since influenced the more club-focused sound of the label. As such, the music on this collection has one foot on the dance floor, but comes with richly layered arrangements and proper songwriting that works just as well at home, in headphones, or anywhere else. Whether driving and late-night or more sun-kissed and airy, the sounds of Unfold are all indicative of the wider output on Atomnation. It is a label that deals in music for dancing, but also thinking and feeling.

The new artists here include NOCUI with his lush piano house, Awe Kid's gurgling grooves and heavenly melodies and Argia's clean, trance-inducing sounds. Label boss Applescal's 'Annie' is an uplifting synth jam with his partner, while Sky Civilian's 'Calle Electra' is a catchy piece of clean avant-pop. Both Milio and boys be kko bring star-gazing gems taken from their upcoming albums on this label. The rolling depths of new artists Lex Ludlow and Blomfelt & Narby bring this collection of sounds way beyond the dance floor - Unfold is packed with fresh new music and grooves laden with spine-tingling emotion.

"Luna, Rojo y Palmera" (Moon, Red & Palm Tree) makes reference to a magical night with red hues on a warm beach somewhere in the Caribbean. A dreamy night, filled with melancholy from the humming sounds coming from the coast.

For this release we wanted to create contrast, yet with these 2 versions keeping the characteristic sound that represents the label.

Berlin Techno queen Anja Schneider offers a huge remix taking its cues from breakbeats providing a retro-future feel, building through bobbing arpeggios. A melancholic and theatrical mix, complemented by big sweeps and minor chords that punctuate in the background. A massive remix that hypnotises.

On the contrast, an afro interpretation from Saint Evo, a gifted Dj/Producer from the savannah plains of Kenya, home of the famed Maasai people. Constantly bring the sensuous vocals from Barbie Williams who combine playfully with Evo's characteristic stabs. Massive breakdowns resulting in an energetic centered raw lead, accented by bleeps and sweeps for extra zest. A mind-melting remix for the more melodic afro house enthusiasts.

Anims announces its debut release, recruiting Ibiza mainstay Oriol Calvo and remixes from Kevin di Serna and Valentin Huedo.

Inspired by the energy of open-air parties on the White Isle, the first release on the freshly minted Anims imprint comes from previous resident of both Space Ibiza and Privilege, Oriol Calvo. An homage to long Balearic summers, ‘Love Loud’ features vocals from LMNL, the new project from Simon Batten, atop a driving and hypnotic production.
Following appearances on Innervisions, Watergate, and All Day I Dream, Argentinian DJ/producer Kevin di Serna delivers an emotive remix, adding his deft touch to the original’s lyrical melodies, harmonies, and
atmospherics. Rounding out the release, Ibiza’s Valentin Huedo turns in a deep and chugging remix, incorporating LMNL’s vocals into a rolling cut with sharp snares and pounding kick drums.
