One of my fav spots in Amsterdam has served as inspiration for the latest Risveglio Muscolare on Radio Raheem! I love the esoteric appearance of this urban totem, which seems to suddenly emerge from the vegetation while cycling through Rembrandtpark. This statue portrays a giant, mysterious figure, which at first intimidate us for his size, until we notice he is smiling back at us, inviting us to come closer. 

The one hour mix that you're about to approach is the musical transposal of this very vision: lush, vaguely trippy, but mostly chill and melodic, perfect for a daytime listening. Enjoy!

Risveglio Muscolare 08 - Angel of the Morning @ Radio Raheem 18-03-21

The Risveglio Muscolare series reaches the fateful 12th episode, closing a symbolic circle with a very special contribution by the Utrecht based selector Latoya.

I got the chance to discover Latoya's talent a year ago at Muto Studio in Amsterdam and I immediately noticed a nice affinity with the Risveglio concept.
Of course, the mix she delivers on this occasion hasn't disappointed the expectations one bit, offering a smooth blend of broken beats and trippy atmospheres, at times playful, at times dreamy, at times obscure 🕳️

I am sure it will cheer up many home dancers in Amsterdam and elsewhere, also in light of the new covid developments/re-closing announcements. 🤕💪🏼

Latest instalment of our usual appointment on Radio Raheem comes at a time of difficulty, with the Netherlands having already re-announce the closing of clubs. In a time when we would need so desperately to "risvegliare i muscoli" - awaken our muscles with a liberating dance, we are once again stuck at home waiting for the next development of this whole mad situation. Hope everybody stays (mentally and physically) safe out there 👁

The cover image for this show was taken during a happy moment riding Clementine, my long-standing noble steed, which got recently stolen after 6 years and which helped me stretch those very muscles on many occasions, kilometre after kilometre.

Risveglio Muscolare 14 - Did we say goodbye? @ Radio Raheem 15-11-2021

Very thrilled to open a new Risveglio Muscolare season with a very special contribution, from friend and emerging talent Cindy. 

Last fall, I had to pleasure to share the booth with her and it was a truly special experience, where we were both able to channel our spaciest vibes on the dancefloor of Vondelbunker in Amsterdam.
I was very surprised by Cindy's approach and sensibility, which showed a maturity you wouldn't expect from somebody who has only recently started DJing. The obvious next step for me was to have her over at Radio Raheem, so here we go!

On the occasion she delivers a super atmospheric mix, balancing sounds and emotions with a skilful alternation between moments of silence and action; a mental journey exploring the deepest corners of the sea and the highest edges of galaxies, all within the walls of our homes.

Two years ago around this time, I have initiated the Risveglio Muscolare series, originally streamed from home and later on included in the program at Radio Raheem. 
Lots of things have changed since April 2020, but the original purpose of this radio show is still there, standing strong: raise the spirits of the online radio community with uplifting sounds and bouncy rhythms.

This show in particular was aired on a Saturday evening, so I took the slightly ravey path.. hope you enjoy the listening!

10th menu provides you with one hour journey into an essential component of Zurich's underground: the label and collective @lespoints.
Run by Luca, Flavio, Nicola and Walid, Les Points focuses on releasing production strictly from the 4 co founders, while their two sublabels - https://soundcloud.com/infoline303 and @gentrifiedunderground - release projects also from external producers. 
in 2015, after getting inspired by early 90's genres and adopting a much more political and aware vision within the identity of the collective, the 4 label heads decided to open the offspace Mikro in Zurich, in order to oppose to today's club culture and power structures. In Mikro they've built a space free from hierarchies, where art exhibitions are open 24/7 and raves have no door policy
because they believe that "music is the bouncer" as Underground Resistance said.

Really happy I could showcase this reality through the À la carte series. Thank you Nicola Kazimir for all the useful insights about the Zurich scene you've given me while preparing the show.

Very special À la carte menu with the Irish label @Earwiggle!
Last week I was joined in the red studio by friend, teacher and talented producer Torgue aka Giacomo Piscitelli. Together we did an energetic b2b session, exploring the dark universe of this incredible label from Dublin.

Earwiggle has been operating since 2011, releasing year after year impressive techno and electro productions from established as well as emergent talents from the underground scene. The label is run by Sunil Sharpe, a very respected DJ and producer with more than two decades of experience. He is currently involved in "Give us the night", a group campaigning trying to revive the Irish nightlife, which has been facing a serious decline in recent years due to conservative licensing laws. Kicking off the first À la carte menu of 2020 (and one year birthday of the show!) with a label rising straight from Manchester: it's @Naturalsciences that since 2015 has been curating a very eclectic catalogue, including an incredibly diverse selection of genres and approaches.
From dungeon rap to fiery electro, from hardcore hip hop to jungle, breaks and trap, this label is the living proof that you don't really need to stick to a specific genre in order to build your own identity and become a successful reality in the contemporary music scene.
Natural Sciences has also helped shed broader light on artists as diverse as DJ Seinfeld, Textasy, Mutant Joe, Aquarium, Strahinja Arbutina, whose productions I was happy to explore during this hour of music.
