Here's a new release of mine, released on Voyager 1. This somewhat continues the concept from Apokatastasis, also released on the same label.

This is to some extent a channeled piece of music. I had the idea to sing on a single low note. Lyrics came to my mind when I tried to find words that would be easy to sing that way:

Olen meren horjunta / I’m the tremor of the sea
Orjana tuulen ainiaan / Forever a slave to the wind
Huojunta veden takana / The oscillation behind the water
Katalan tiedon alimaan / Of the underworld of wicked knowledge

After working on the track for some time I started to think a name for it. It was not Ea originally. Searching for some Finnish word led me to a website about Sumerian gods. There I read about Ea, and my lyrics and the piece seemed to perfectly match the description. After the revelation I only needed to make small changes to fit the piece in the concept.

Musician, sound artist Heikki Lindgren experiments with contemporary ambient music and aesthetics of archaic Karelian music. 
Heikki has been studying the long sound aesthetics furthermore in his 'Ambient experimentations' release series. 

In his collaboration with SARANA he plays traditional Karelian string instrument, jouhikko (bowed lyre). The album has been freely combined and mixed from their session material.

A spectral dark ambient music piece, where Gaza's nightly soundscape is replayed as micro/atonal music. I watched a live stream from Gaza, and its contrasting soundscape of war machines, chants and animals disturbed my mind. 

The spectral tools I've made in Ableton pick up the four strongest frequencies at positions I've chosen. They are then replayed with musical instruments and effects in 8192 steps / semitone accuracy. 

The piece also features an excerpt of a poem The State of Siege by Marwan Darweish.

Let Us Rejoice A Night In Gaza

An excerpt of the soundtrack loop for an exhibition by a Guadeloupean artist Karib.

The piece is largely based on the high-pitched sound of a reverberating cannon shell casing, which acts like a tuning fork after being fired. In this case, its frequency is about 4400 Hz, or slightly below C#, which corresponds to the wavelength of the casing's diameter or the cannon's caliber. The sound is played at different octaves/pitches and processed in various ways. It is mixed with the sound of a Tibetan prayer bell and a temporally lengthened and highly processed sound of a creaking door brings along an organic dynamism.

Short female vocal loop is recreated with Ghanan bell instrument. The rhythm also varies according to the analysed frequencies. The system follows the frequencies and doesn't try to fit the resulting sounds into any notation system. The sound is also fed to a couple of spectral filters.

Anoa - 01 - Vala (Excerpt) [Synphaera - Pénte]

This is a test for a tuning system I have introduced to the process. The upper harmonics were more or less noise, so I created a couple of ways to tune the harmonics. Here, the vocal fundamental frequency controls a spectral filter, which is modulated by a melodic frog sound. The harmonics are tuned to Just Intonation minor scale.

This is a piece from a two hour intuitive ambient duet with jouhikko magician Heikki Lindgren. Jouhikko is an archaic Finnish stringed instrument. This was our first live performance together. 

The event took place at the Finnish museum of modern art Kiasma, as a part of Esitys_nyt / Lovi goes Kiasma performance series. Heikki Lindgren is the organiser of Lovi ambient club in Helsinki.
