Allah Rakha was born in Muzaffar, a village in Sialkot District of Punjab, in 1932. During early childhood, his family moved to Amritsar, where he was raised. He acquired his initial education in classical music and sarangi playing from his father, Ustad Lal Din. 
He moved to Lahore in 1948, and for almost two decades, he worked at the Radio Station, and in the film industry as a recording artist. In Lahore, his knowledge of music was further broadened during his association with Ustad Sardar Khan (vocalist), son of Umrao Khan, and grandson of Tanras Khan.

Nathoo Khan was arguably the best sarangi nawaz in the subcontinent in his time. I do not know his antecedents and lineage, but he was one of the artistes brought over to Radio Pakistan, Karachi, from All India Radio, by the Grand Old Man of Broadcasting, Z. A. Bukhari. Nathoo Khan was a malang, and his performances would reflect the must in his spirit. He would twitch and jerk along with every turn of musical phrase, creating a unity of body, soul and instrument

Ustad Sabri Khan Khan belongs to the Sainia Gharana. This Gharana traces the tradition of its music back to Mian Tansen,
Khan has a prodigious command over the Sarangi – bowed instrument, which is considered to be a difficult instrument to master in Indian instrumental music. In playing Sarangi he has generated his own style where the purity of raga, variety of tans, layakari, (rhythmic oscillations) alaap-jor are obvious and of course of the traditional form of sarangi-playing in its total originality.
Khan, has toured extensively across the world and performed in Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Japan, USSR, Russia, USA, Canada, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Mexico.. The credit of introducing the Sarangi to American and European audiences goes to Khan. He was invited as a visiting professor by the University of Washington, Seattle, USA.

"Ustad Munir Khan (born 1926) belongs to a family of distinguished courtmusicians from Rajasthan that goes back many generations. Ustad Munir Khan had his musical eductaion in sarangi and vocal music under the guidance of his father Ustad Nazir Khan (1882-1975) and also became a disciple of Ustad Amir Khan with whom he studied for over forty years. Starting at a young age he participated in concerts with many great masters and he has always been much sought after for sarangi accompaniment by vocalists like Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan, Ummeed Ali Khan and Bibe Khan of Punjab, Ustad Alladiya Khan, Vilayat Hussain Khan, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Amir Khan, Nissar Hussain Khan and Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur..."

A music concert is on, continuing till the wee hours of the morning. Many vocalists and instrumentalists are showing their skills. Every performer thinks that his was the best performance on the stage. One girl in the audience is overwhelmed by the performance of an instrumentalist and becomes such an admirer that she falls in love with him. Cupid’s arrow has done it’s work and one fine day they tie the nuptial knot.

Incidentally, this happened in Delhi, a little before Independence. The artist was Munir Sarhadi, the sarinda virtuoso who won laurels in the country and abroad, and the girl was Banu Begum, who attended a concert in Delhi, filled with a galaxy of vocalists and instrumentalists from all over the subcontinent.

Munir Sarhadi’s technique was very imaginative. He played every raga and folk composition with masterly ease. Sarinda, the fretless stringed instrument, is comparatively a difficult instrument in the string family as it has little space between the bridge and knobs, and requires extra ability to produce the three octaves. Munir, through his extra effort, easily acquired this skill and played classical taans to folk lehra as an accomplished performer. He had the ability to sing, play and also compose music. He was so engrossed in the music and sarinda that he hardly passed a day without playing it after he decided to learn it and make it a living. While his father excelled in folk tunes and classical music, Munir created a fusion of the two. This is evident from the films Dara-i-Khyber, Baghi and some other films of which he composed the music. He blended classical music with some variations from Pushto music and vice versa. For his services towards the promotion of music, he was awarded the Pride of Performance.

Sabri Khan was born on 21 May 1927 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.[1] He belonged to the Sainia Gharana. This Gharana traces the tradition of its music back to Mian Tansen, the great vocalist in the court of Moghul Emperor Akbar. He had been initiated into Sarangi-playing by his grandfather, Ustad Haji Mohammed Khan and later continued his training under his father Ustad Chajju Khan, both accomplished Sarangi exponents of their time. Khan also learned some important and rare techniques of playing this ancient and difficult instrument from his uncle Ustad Laddan Khan of Rampur.

A regular ritual for us disciples on the day of Eid, 
A morning visit to the mosque with guruiji and family carried on by the day long feast . 
Our visitors were quite common Indian Classical Ustad's and Student's all rushing in to wish a happy Eid . 
The Atmosphere was somewhat can't be described by words but i still can remember the day guruji sang this THUMRI, demonstrating the chalan of the raga and an introduction to it followed by this recording rolling out on a pair of old speakers .
