Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown in the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a label from the land of the Ancient Greeks: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music trip outside traditional paths with driving grooves and polyphonic structures that are seeking dancers to Dionysian highs and places never seen before.

Dracaena Cinnabari, the Socotra dragon tree or dragon blood tree, is a dragon tree native to the Socotra archipelago, part of Yemen, located in the Arabian Sea. The dragon blood tree has a unique and strange appearance, with an "upturned, densely packed crown having the shape of an uprightly held umbrella". This evergreen species is named after its dark red resin, which is known as "dragon's blood". Unlike most monocot plants, Dracaena displays secondary growth, even has growth zones resembling tree rings found in dicot tree species. Along with other arborescent Dracaena species it has a distinctive growth habit called "dracoid habitus". Its leaves are found only at the end of its youngest branches; its leaves are all shed every 3 or 4 years before new leaves simultaneously mature. Branching tends to occur when the growth of the terminal bud is stopped, due to either flowering or traumatic events.  Its fruits are small fleshy berries containing between 1 and 4 seeds. As they develop they turn from green to black, and then become orange when ripe. The berries are eaten by birds and thereby dispersed. The berries exude a deep red resin, known as dragon's blood. Opening up the release is the sounds of ‘Pokhara Lake’. A stifling piece of acute electronica, it immediately reminds us that this is no ordinary release. Solemn and moody, it’s also exceptionally beautiful and bares all the hallmarks of a producer with a rich musical background. ‘Dying to be Myself’ sees Latyshev opt for some beguiling strings and a cinematic feel, before the record closes out courtesy of ‘Living for Tomorrow’. An ethereal gem that’s filled with intriguing vocals, it takes the breath away and end the release on another high point.

Sara Pignatelli is a Portuguese visual and music artist, based in Ericeira.

With classical music education, she studied piano for 10 years. In 2003 Sara became a psy-trance and, around 2009, her electronic music taste started shifting for calmer and more ethnic beats.

Nowadays, Sara's sets are known for her sweet, feminine and melodic selections. She makes a difference by building up distinctive sound journeys that range from natural and acoustic details to deep electric synthesizers. 

Sara's creativity is deeply rooted in her intimate connection with the Natural world, having dedicated the last  decade to studying master plants, which became the main source of guidance in her creations. 

Currently, she is crafting her debut music album, using Ableton Live and intending to weave her voice and message through digital compositions. Hopefully to be released in 2024.
