The Brighter Than a Thousand Suns album is criminally underrated in Killing Joke's back catalogue, there's some masterpieces on there. This is my vocal tribute to one of them.

Twilight of the Mortal (Killing Joke Cover)

So, I was at the Wembley Arena gig. 

I recorded this literally the day after I got home, so less than 24 hours after I attended the gig, so the state of my voice in this song was in no small part due to me lending the strength of my voice (along with so many in the crowd) to Vessel that night. I wanted to record this as a sort of time capsule, an audible memory of what that night was like, when 12,000 people all gave their energy and their voices to Vessel. It was an honour and a privilege to be among that number. 

When Vessel started playing the first few notes of this song at the encore, I couldn't hold back the tears. What a night, what a catharsis. I hope this version is at least worthy of being my small offering from that night.

I couldn't resist but write a vocal to this amazing piece of music! I know I slightly deviated from the title from a Ballet to a Masquerade Ball, but I wanted a creepy connection with the listener. <3

No, I haven't been lucky enough to meet the man himself, so the title's a teensy bit of a misnomer; this is my vocals overlayed onto the vocals from a YouTube video of him singing (channel's name is TheNightLab if you want to check out the pure solo-Oscar version... you won't regret it, honestly...) 
I've sang along to this song ever since I first heard it and the words absorbed into my mind. Then the harmonies came, and refused to go away until I'd put them down. I showed some friends, and they liked it, so I thought 'why the hell not?', and here it is now. Hopefully it doesn't suck...

Of course, none can compare to the Man In Black himself, his voice always had an undertone of experience to it. My completely melodic approach is a different take on this classic. I don't intend to try and compete with the original, that's in a class of it's own. This is my homage.

One of my favourite 'old Nightwish' songs, and initially this was just a draft, but I really like the way the single take recording came out (which unfortunately means no harmony on the chorus..
