better known as Reka, has blown up on the world stage since beginning out as a DJ more than 10 years ago. Since then, she’s become a long time resident at Tresor, embarked on a career as a producer ( her debut EP, Diving the Innermost came out on Phase Fatal’s BITE in 2018) and made the jump to Berghain. But there’s more to Mendez than being a connoisseur of all genres dark and hard-edged. In addition to being a DJ, Mendez is an entrepreneur and a science enthusiast. KEYI sat down to talk with her about her world before techno and the ways in which research and precision define her creative work and her extra musical life.

[ YEARS OF DENIAL ]

Years of Denial is the project of French musician Jerome Tcherneyan, former times drummer of cult British band Piano Magic and music producer since 1997, and Czech performance & music artist, singer-songwriter & poet Barkosina Hanusova. Active since 2016, the duo has become known across the globe for their well-crafted sharp productions and electrifying live performances.

Utilizing hardware and a plethora of dub devices combined with Barkosina’s unmistakable vocals, the pair revisit the dark corners of post-punk, goth, new beat, EBM, industrial, and rave culture. Their live shows inject rhythmic beats and pulsating arpeggios with heavy electronics fused with a spacey psychedelic sonic treatment. The duo operates on the dance floor with a powerful performative representation creating an excursive, unforgettable experience. 

Well known for their fruitful discography, much of which is created inside the infamous Ark of Noise studios, the project's prolific output includes a variety of releases on Death & Leisure, Pinkman, and Khemia, to name a few, not to mention the front-runner 2xLP Suicide Disco (Veyl 2019), an extraordinary offering that set fire to dance floors everywhere and is also the name the duo coined to describe their sound. The release spawned a massive remix EP featuring reworks from Silent Servant, Orphx, Broken English Club, and Alexey Volkov.

In 2023 YOD releases Suicide Disco II (Veyl), a triumphant return, elevating their distinct sound and delivering 12 all-new tracks, which will also return them to the live stage to continue to captivate and further build on the project’s form and legacy.

Elina Sokolovskaya, se produisant sous le nom de scène technovvintage, est une résidente des soirées Deprave Tekstil Music de Saint-Pétersbourg. 

Au cours de sa carrière de DJ de 5 ans, elle a joué dans tous les lieux emblématiques de Saint-Pétersbourg, ainsi que lors de grands festivals (Gamma de m_division et d'autres). Elle a également performé à Moscou, Ekaterinbourg et Petrozavodsk.

MAYA is a new-generation DJ and sonic medium emerging from the underground of Lviv, Ukraine. Her presence channels the energy of another dimension, where music is not just rhythm, but a spiritual instrument of awakening. With deep roots in cyberpunk aesthetics, mysticism, and the raw pulse of post-industrial culture, MAYA's sound rituals fuse EBM, Cyber Body Music, Industrial, and Dark Disco into a transcendent force.

Her sets act as portals—activating dormant codes within the psyche and guiding listeners through techno-dystopian landscapes, neon-lit ruins, and sacred ruins of future civilizations. The post‑punk roots of La Nueva Corte meet the relentless drive of EBM and Electro in this radical reimagining. “Veneno De Serpiente” becomes a venomous dancefloor weapon under Disco Radical’s vision, layering mechanical basslines, sharp percussive textures, and hypnotic synth sequences that coil with tension and release. The remix amplifies the track’s raw edge, transforming its post‑punk darkness into a pulsating electronic storm designed for underground spaces. It’s a sound both visceral and precise: a fusion of industrial grit and radical rhythm that bites with intensity and refuses to let go.

Grounded podcast number 98 welcomes Spanish artist Hurtado, based in Berlin, Germany.  Originally from Alicante,  he was first introduced to the world of electronic music at the hands of his uncle, who showed him a video of a DJ performing at a party.

Beginning from there he learnt as a self-taught artist until in 2012 when he moved to Barcelona and joined SAE(School of Audio Engineering)which led to his first release on the Mexican label B55 with his first EP entitled "Trinian". in early December 2015, his second EP came out on the label "Brood Audio" from Los Angeles with the tittle "1995".

Hurtado draws influences of darkness and that 90's sound from the likes pf Surgeon, Regis and Chris Liebing which are prominent in this recording, an excerpt from his closing set @Tresor (1 - 11 - 17).
