SF Decom 2024 @ Soundgarden / DeMentha

My style has always been evolving, as it should.  I’m def a chameleon with my varied musical tastes and I’ve been honing my style with the intention to create a mix that’s equally diverse, cohesive and concise.  Something chill, meditative and energetic, that incorporates sound healing elements and is also highly danceable.  I’ve touched on it in other creations but I feel like I’ve finally done it with this one.  A ceremony of sound, healing sound, weaving together a tapestry of appealing sonic textures.

This art was created with the intention to be listened to in full, in one sitting, or standing, but ideally dancing (:  Without listening from beginning to end, it’s not the same, it’s incomplete, you don’t get the full context.  That’s how you journey.  And this is a journey, through sound.  Also requires a patient ear, that’s how this works.

If you’re into this sort of thing, I invite you to create some scared space, maybe some medicine if that’s your thing too, and really drop in.

Music has been my main medicine during these times.  When the walls feel like they’re closing in, I make art, I enjoy art, I share art.

A DANCE TO RE-MEMBER

This curation came together in two days and invites the dancer to remember their dreams, shake up ones conditioning, and release self limiting beliefs that block the fulfilment of the heart and souls deepest desires. On this quest, what feels alive in your being? Where can you track this aliveness in your body? 

I thought I had a mix ready to go for this one. When I returned to it, I was inspired by fall, Fiji, ceremony and myself two months later, to take it in a whole new direction. Let me know how it lands for you if you feel called?

If You Were Human

A little story for you about this one. It was the most confident I felt djing an ecstatic dance. I deeply love the music in this curation~ sonic textures..... The next day I rolled up to the parking lot at Kye Bay, with no one in sight, just me, my dog the forest and ocean. I had decided to continue listening to it outside of my car, with all four doors open and had a boogie to it once again. Some senior locals slowly approached to see what the "noise" was all about. Without question they loved the atmosphere that was as they got closer to expressive me. They were smiling and almost laughing. We got talking, I invited them to dance despite one having a walker. The short was they both had reasons why they wouldn't "dare" as one of them shared. They both shared their experience with poor balance and proceeded to remove and show me their hearing aids. This whole unfolding in the parking lot, was a gentle reminder to not take for granted our mobility and freedom to express ourselves through dance! Enjoy this mix. I am quite proud of it!
