It is recited at a speed that allows for clarity of pronunciation, making it a valuable aid for any Theravāda monk aspiring to recite the Bhikkhupātimokkha by heart or reading. There is a bonus section at the end of the 1st track 1:01:00 - 1:03:20), so as to give an indication of the chanting speed required to perform the entire Pātimokkha within 45 - 50 minutes.

FYI: The first track in this playlist contains the Pātimokkha in full, whereas the subsequent tracks contain only a single rule each, which makes it easier to put the track on repeat. This can be useful before starting to memorize a new rule, in order to familiarize oneself with the Pāli pronunciation first.

Are Monastics Protecting Or Corrupting The Sāsana

In this talk Bhante Ariyadhammika highlights the benefits of simplicity, contentment, gratitude, monks' ascetic practices and more.
The talk was given one day prior to a jungle retreat of the monastic community of SBS Monk Training Centre in Dec. 2019, where our monks experienced a lifestyle of utmost simplicity, forests of natural beauty, as well as a healthy dose of physical discomfort, while devoting themselves to meditation at secluded sites, far aloof from society.

Why Kathina?

为什么越修越痛苦?

Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary (SBS) is primarily a monastery for Buddhist monks to deepen their knowledge, practice and realization of the Buddha’s teachings. Under the auspices of the Monastery (Monk Training Centre) the Sanctuary dedicates its resources to groom ordained as well as prospective monks to become conscientious in the DhammaVinaya, and thereby help to perpetuate the Sāsana.

SBS also provides a Retreat Centre to realise its secondary objective: promoting the spiritual, mental and physical health of its supporting community; thus reflecting a healthy Sangha-laity interdependence.

Here, tough choices are made:

“Shall I go for retreat, or shall I retreat completely and go forth?”
