“You know it's true, don't you?" You know it's true, sometimes emotions can be darn unsettling and disturbing – as they flow deep down our consciousness uncovering fears, thoughts and feelings. Yes, if we're focused too much on our personal hedonistic euphorias, sometimes we lose that... It gets lost; You know it's true. You may know it's true.

Manfredi Romano aka Dj Tennis shapes this treasure, a release that is decisively out of the box; a small cathedral made of subtle shades and unusual EQ's, where ideas seduce and frighten.

That's “Divisions”, led by Danish singer and guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg. Who's words and voice are carefully crafted as a precious, poisoning weapon of concern and bewilderment; as it is “Chirality” a deep, insistent, gelid voyage. Which distinctively in this round, We find ourselves not only with Tennis' masterful production skills but also the astounding addition of Sophie Trudeau's string work – she's been the driving force behind the string sections of legendary Canadian post-rockers Godspeed You Black Emperor, one of the most dark, cinematic and unsettling rock acts of the last decades – which really ads a poignant and visionary mood and emotions we rarely encounter and by that we can rarely breathe.

The original edits have been respectfully and creatively revisited by techno pioneer Roman Flügel, who masterfully rubs “Divisions”; turning it into a sensual, devious, laid down affaire. Lastly, closing the ride , the legendary English duo Plaid - true masters and innovators within the Intelligent Dance Music field- grace “Chirality” with their very own touch made of alien sounds, mutant rhythm architectures, warm dynamics and heartbreaking melodic caresses that iconically represents their visions.

Soma’s Italian connection, Roberto Clementi, makes a welcome return opening his 2016 account with the solid, Wall Of People. Including a top notch remix form Ilian Tape label heads, Marco & Dario Zenker. Robert has slowly been building his credentials in the Techno world with some fine releases and this driving number is another to add to increasing discography with Soma.

The Zenker Brothers remix opens the EP as the Munich based duo lend their deep and highly refined production talents to Wall Of People. Ruptured beats play havoc with a shimmering high end and rattling percussive elements all tied in with a pulsing, modulating synth hook that keep the track feeling fairly dark. Clementi’s original shows a much harder edge to his previous work with big, sub heavy beats worked around a more pumped up rhythm and tearing synth line

Slam deliver yet another on point release for Soma as the duo drop the Signifies EP. Stuart and Orde have been on fire of late with not only their releases doing the damage but with a string of gigs across the continent and their own Pressure events in their hometown of Glasgow going from strength to strength, the pair seem unstoppable at the moment. This latest EP once again shows great depth in their production going from hard- hitting techno to stripped back and jacked up machine funk.

Structure kicks things off and Slam state their intent on this one as one mean sounding hook plays the main role alongside fairly punishing drums. Title track Signifies is up next with yet more intelligently made patterns used a little more subtly but with no less impact. Functional closes out the EP and takes things a little deeper with is simple yet effect and pumped percussion striding across a tweeked out vocal sample.
With this huge release, Slam once again maintain their claim as being one of the most innovative acts in electronic music right now.

An exceptional use of heavy sounds on the beat department, coupled with lush and clever synth programming based on the purest Detroit techno sound. 'Aliens Ate My Cat' presents a more quirky sound than the one you are used to listen from Sascha. 'Planetary Boundaires' and 'Red' are two masterpieces of what you are used to: driving beats with heavy melody sections. Without breaking any rules these three tracks at first listen could make you think they were produced by legends like Juan, Kevin, or even Carl. A more crunchier but not less groovy remix from swedish producer and techno veteran Mattias Fridell has been made for 'Aliens Ate My Cat'. A certain belief that extraterrestrial beings copy their behaviour on personality traits from the fictional tv series character 'ALF', is based on the physics of microwaves travelling in the vacuum of space and being picked up by intelligent lifeforms of neighbouring star systems. But for Sascha Zastiral, his belief is based on an incident with his feline pet: "Aliens Ate My Cat" said the Detroit techno producer while transmitting the three tracks into space with his latest antenna setup....

Sascha Zastiral - Aliens Ate My Cat (Mattias Fridell Remix)


London based electronic music artist and Detroit aficionado Sascha Zastiral published his first 12” “Electronic Phiction” in 1998 on DJ Good Groove’s label Frisbee Tracks. Releases on labels like Monika Kruse’s Terminal M, Holzplatten and Swedish imprint Physical Soul followed.

In 2014 his all time hero Kevin Saunderson signed Sascha to his legendary label KMS Records. In 2015, Sascha's tracks were released on relaunched Primate Recordings.

Sascha has played live sets in numerous clubs including the famous original “Tresor” in Berlin. His music is heavily inspired by the sound of Detroit, the birthplace of techno: An intoxicating blend of drums, basslines and funky grooves. It’s at the same time raw and intelligent, deep and groovy. Dance music with a soul.
