Citing diverse influences such as The KLF, Prince, the sort of left-field disco played by DJ Harvey and classic house producers like Mr. Fingers, Matthew Wasley aka Human Life produces catchy, potent electronic music with engaging vocals and strong song writing.
Originally from Boston, Human Life now lives in Los Angeles where he met Anabel Englund and the two became fast friends, soaking in the city’s underground warehouse parties together. "El Diablo“ (original version released on Win Music) marks the second collaboration of the pair, the first being their track "Falling“ which was released on Hot Creations in 2013. "El Diablo“ has lyrics influenced by Jim Morrison, harmonies reminiscent of The Beach Boys, and a deep, disco influenced production with an early 90’s touch.  
It was Sean Glass from Win Music NYC who sent the track to Shir Khan. The latter liked the original track so much that they both decided to give it some decent Exploited All Star Remix package.  
Now here are 4 different remixes for the club from Exploited mainstays Adana Twins and Joyce Muniz as well as friends Mia Dora and Hotlane. 

Anabel Englund: "My friend Matthew Wasley (aka Human Life) introduced me to music like Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Kim Ann Foxman, Maya Jane Coles, Adana Twins and it all started from there. For the first time hearing it, I would say it sounded like sex. Good, dirty sex and I was hooked ever since.“

Human Life: "I would make her playlists every week to listen to. Adana Twins’ track "Everyday" was the soundtrack to many a car ride home. It's only fitting that now years later the Adana's have remixed our track "El Diablo“!“

The first on the forthcoming two-tracker from Animal Trainer, ‘Rebirth’ encompasses the feeling of anticipation and optimism. Funk and disco inspired beats and synth lines offer an irresistible hook to the track. Space-like sounds and gentle but swirling melodies build throughout with signature Frankfurt-style techno bleats peppering the track. With each minute that passes, the elements come together to work in harmony, bringing us closer to a new beginning; a ‘Rebirth’.

In a continuation on the journey that Animal Trainer have laid out in this EP, second track ‘Awakening’ projects a celestial feel. Following on from a previous sense of anticipation, we now feel we have landed in the presence of a new and higher power with ‘Awakening’. A steady pulsing beat forms the undercurrent

for this transmission. Overlaid with electrical tweets and gentle acid-esque melodies, the track delves deep with snare rhythms pinpointing clear tribal influences. A subtle-yet powerful drop welcomes the listener into the thick of this track; they’re awakened in the cosmos with Animal Trainer at the helm.

Fitting seamlessly into the Rebellion catalogue, rising star Brina Knauss is making her impression on the label this Spring with an epic two parter that is ready to impress.

Brina reveals how she tried to express a way of living and seeing life through the EP using melodies and vocals that will transport the listener into her world. “​In the first track ‘Sledi Toku’ I used my mother Slovenian language: “ne misli (don't think) prepusti se (let it go) sledi toku (follow the flow) ustavi se(stop)”. I have never heard it used by anyone in this genre and I couldn't wait to discover it’s sound effect and vibe for the listener. Through these vocals I try to suggest letting go, following the flow of one's feeling but always with a pinch of awareness.. In the second track, I mean to show that Nature will show you through signals, like a ‘Lady Bug’”.

Sledi Toku i​ s a powerful and emotive techno track, with Brina’s effortless and haunting vocals placed perfectly to create atmosphere. Following on, ​Lady Bug d​ elves deeper, progressing with dynamic synths and stirring pads that will dominate any dancefloor.

Brina Knauss started her music career in Slovenia as a singer in a girl band called B.B.T. In 2018 her potential was noticed by Luciano who contacted her to perform at several Vagabundos parties. She has since played at Woomoon, Rumors, elrow and Storytellers with Damian Lazarus, Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos. Following this she was nominated in the Newcomer DJ category at the Ibiza DJ Awards in 2018, has had a full cover on DJ Mag (Italy) and played gigs like the Crosstown Rebels party at Watergate in Berlin. In 2018 Brina also started her guest residency at Volt club in Milan.

Brina Knauss - Lady Bug

We kick off this year with a new EP from Milio, the solo project of Emiel van den Dungen, who is also one half of Tunnelvisions. Here focusing more on lush synth sounds, he offers a pair of deep and meditative tracks that journey through the cosmos and come with original artwork from Nous Couteaux.

Milio has a fine collection of hardware at home including a Moog Grandmother, Jupiter 8, OB-6, sh101, and more. He often likes to switch on his machines, step into a different world and jam when he is experiencing what he calls 'afterglow' - that feeling you get from a flashback to a club experience that leaves you happy, peaceful and inspired. The artist often sets up in the Willem Twee Studios in his hometown of Den Bosch, which is filled with tape machines that he likes to use to add warmth to his music. He's an artist who becomes at one with sound thanks to his hardware based, hands on approach to production, and that shows here.

Opener 'Moment of Truth' quickly establishes a nice rubbery rhythm that locks you in. Bubbling melodies drift up top like tasing clouds while a melodic bassline rides up and down the sale to add to the subtle and supple sense of movement. It makes for a beautiful and hypnotic listen that is always evolving. The excellent 'Never Say Never' is a little less restrained, with crisp and driving drums making you move while all manner of synths bubble and gurgle away. Miniature melodic explosions light up the skies and keep you on edge while hints of acid appear from below to keep things engaging from start to finish.

These are two carefully crafted, long form grooves that are as cerebral as they are physical.
