Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

The fifth stop in our journey through The Continuum takes us to a land of tranquility, introspection and relaxation. And this exercise is guided by none other than Vand. And what can we say about his craft for those who haven't met him? A producer with a special touch for those sounds that tickle your brain, and a live performer who can also be found often behind the DJ decks. From solo lives to collaborative 5 people acts, Vand is as versatile as they come when it comes to improvising with electronics. But his sound, picking both from the deepest to the most playful, strikes a great balance for dancefloor and for "brainfloor". His project Isotoop (along with Shoal) recently materialized into wax, so seems appropriate that their first reference as Voal is our suggestion as a starting point to discover his sonic dishes. 

For The Continuum, Vand has prepared a set of deep and downtempo goodness. Expect ambient scapes, slow-ish beats and breaks, some evocative pads and emotional moments... he masterfully cooked a set that will work for a Zen moment, for a cocktail hour or for a comedown epiphany.

Today we're presenting the result of the work of two friends, Jhon and Salva. We hope you enjoy the collaboration between !nertia and ABSIS. 

!nertia is a composer & performer who pushes the boundaries of sonic arts. His work explores the motion of sound through an instinctive way of working; he makes field recordings and then he extracts movement out of natural sounds, afterwards, he combines these elements into live electronics to create an endless journey. A smooth and organic blend, fusing the electronic and natural world into one ambience. This approach results into emotional, atmospheric and hypnotic art works, which mutate into performances to experience his narrative sound in diverse multi sensorial ways. 

ABSIS is Salva Coromina, a regular DJ in the Barcelona scene since the late 90's under the alias mouseDown/MouseUp. He was a resident DJ at The Loft (Razzmatazz) and a regular at Sonar for many years. He has always been exploring the deeper side of electronic music, moving from ambient to techno. Currently, ABSIS runs his bi-monthly residency at Laut club in Barcelona under the name Midline, where he has invited DJs such as Vand, Daniel(i), Unjin, Doctrina Natura, Vardae, Fon, Simone Bauer, Foreign Material and Jin Synth. He is also a resident at the MOSTRA festival in Barcelona and his productions are published on labels such as hivern discs and Oslated among others.

PREMIERE: Kalumet - Mariana Trench [Lotus Parable]

Dubstep-tech hybrids from one of 2024's most forward-thinking breakouts.

Born in France to English parents, Beatrice M. is a product of two environments. And like many third culture kids, this lends the Rinse France resident and Bait label head a knack for seeing the realm of possibility beyond arbitrary borders and binaries.

Beatrice M. is a part of a wider cohort of artists spearheading an elastic take on dubstep: take Carré and Introspekt in the US, EMA in Dublin and Mia Koden in London, to name a few. Collectively, they are not only pushing greater representation and diversity, but ensuring a broader palette of sounds find home within the genre's renaissance.

Where dubstep got trapped down a brostep cul-de-sac in the early 2010s, 2020s already seems to be all about a charming phrase Beatrice M. employs: siblingstep. Their RA Podcast, a "full femme, non-binary, trans productions set," is testament to that.

RA.961 finds Beatrice M. embracing the softer, more intimate edges of their sonic world. There's cuts from Grace Jones and rRoxymore, a fresh tech-house venture under the alias B. McQueen and heaps of siblingstep. All in, it's an hour of past reverberations, present rhythms and glimmers of future horizons.

Sasemoi’s journey began in Belgium’s underground dubstep and bass scene, but it wasn’t until he moved to Amsterdam that he truly dove into the deep, minimal, and hypnotic worlds of techno and downtempo. With a growing passion for live hardware jamming, Sasemoi started crafting warm, noisy, and textured soundscapes that blend his early love for dub with his evolving electronic sound. His music is all about creating a vibe that’s immersive, emotive, and experimental.

Alongside his music, Sasemoi also runs DELVER, a label he founded as a platform for his deep yet playful sound, working with a tight-knit crew of like-minded artists and musicians who share his vision. Through DELVER, he continues to push the boundaries of his interpretation of raw and emotional music.
