Heavy Machinery Records is proud to present ’TIE-EE-YIE-EE-YIE-EE-YIME', the stunning debut full length album from Melbourne electronic producer Female Wizard.

Female Wizard has been a stalwart of the Melbourne dance music scene since taking up DJing in 2014. She initially made her mark by gathering and sharing a vast classic house record collection under the name Brooke Powers, playing feature sets at Golden Plains, Dark Mofo and Red Bull Music Academy’s Transliminal, The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, and many more.

In 2019, Female Wizard took on her now trademark experimental and innovative DJ style. Exploring the weirder sides of techno, industrial, IDM and more, this style aims to create collective transcendence through powerful sonic immersion. Female Wizard’s debut at a Boiler Room and Discwoman collaborative event was followed by headlining sets at Hybrid Festival and Soft Centre, as well as mixes for Discwoman, and Boiler Room’s Hard Dance mix series. In 2020, Female Wizard made the shift to music production, releasing her first EP 'Messy-Podge-Mania' on local label Anterograde.

Coming from an industrial rave background, 131bpm is known for his digging skills, playing illegal parties, and constantly looking for new sonic sonorities.

Always sweaty and sexy, his sets are eclectic, ranging from punchy techno to vocal electro breakbeat smattered with chicago ghetto house and 90´s groovy tracks.

Solidly rooted in the Berlin queer techno scene, he has played events such as Whole Festival in Ferropolis, Lecken and Members in Berlin, Sous Tes Reins in Paris, and in Milan for Solida and Vitamina where he is a resident.

For episode 62, Shannon speaks to KYRUH and WTCHCRFT, a DJ duo who has been blowing up dance floors in NYC with their fiery DJ sets.

Whizzing through trashing Techno, Hard House and booming Electronic vocal samples, KYRUH and WTCHCRFT light up the dance floor with their high energy.  Every time the pair manage to offer up something unique and their creative synergy feels timeless and unbound. 

KYRUH and WTCHCRFT have been devoted to the rave since high school and college, where they happened to meet and form an inseparable friendship. Now big things are exploding for the DJ duo. After their electric performance at Berlin's popular radio station HOR, the besties have been booked and busy, and they’re actually gearing up for another Euro tour. 

What's the secret to their undeniable sauce? Shannon spoke to KYRUH and WTCHCRFT about their early DJ beginnings. The pair walked through how they plan their electrifying sets, and the duo share some exciting developments about their buzzing DJ careers.

Techno Rising With KYRUH & WTCHCRFT

controlled chaos is a key element in my practice. in this mix, things get dialed up a notch. while spiraling, time seemed to go much slower while recording!
making use of intuitive, rapid mixing and flexible shifts in tempo and genre.
the sounds in my minted chaos mix explore the complete spectrum of chaotic good, neutral and evil - illustrated through the selections and their handling.
recorded on a pioneer xdj-rx controller, and madly manipulating just a few parameters.. tracks are handled with an appropriate level of recklessness in each section.
tightly contracting and rapidly accelerating tracks seemed to unleash their most chaotic inertial potential.

one of the transitory points between themes are marked by flowing water. these are recordings from years back.. i swear in that moment i was fascinated by the chaotic potential of water.. here recognizing its potential as an instrument. (i'd eventually make a whole 'liquindi-techno' track which did not make it into the mix)
water is the key of life but under the right set of influences can destroy cities.
drawn to ebb and flow by the moon.. when i felt myself get too calm as a lake i'd take the mix in the direction to be wild as a river.

Amorphous and adaptable, quest?onmarq is a sonic and physical shapeshifter channeling sounds from all corners of the global underground.
When guiding the vibration of the room, the ‘spiral effect’ takes place — a collective state of inhibitory submission by way of frequency manipulation often in the form of genre defiant DJ set performances that incorporate turntablism, sharp technical prowess and their own productions and remixes. They can be heard monthly as a bi-monthly fixture presenting mixes and guest features on Paris’ arm of Rinse.FM as well as a monthly resident, producing audio-visual mixes on New York’s The Lot Radio.
