After a slightly longer break, Niconé & Sascha Braemer are finally back on Stil vor Talent. Their ‚Stay feat. Limon’ EP instantly showcases that the wait has been worth it though. On the title track, the trio creates a fusion of romantic synth leads, sensuous vocals and areal strings. ‘Tell Me’, also featuring Limon, is no less epic, but aims straight for the peak time with the help of driving chords and a healthy dose of bass. Next to the two hot originals, the Spaniard Henry Saiz delivers a remix reminiscent of The Human League. A creaking bass-line, crystalline synths and a distant vox catapult you straight to the 80s. The things that dreams are made of!

The Los-Angeles-by-way-of-UK producer has been catching some serious air with no-time-for-turbulence work on esteemed imprints including Get Physical, Innervision and Noir. Next week, he turns to his own Spread Your Wings label to issue the sleek, arpeggio-laden original “Lost in a Dream.” 

Running alongside the REM-revolving groover are reworks coming from the hands of Sascha Bramer, Lee Van Dowski and Slow Hearts. German game-changer Larse gives us another reason to believe he has a leg up on the competition, as he culls the swirling melodies and sends them through the ringer to craft an assortment of lusciously deep layers. Capering synths orbit a neon nucleus of subtle basslines and persistent perc work that never lose their footing—and neither will you.

Track of the Day: Eagles & Butterflies “Lost in a Dream” (Larse Remix)

Tóxico and Subject To Restrictions Discs present a retrospective on Switzerland's hidden analogue gear scene from 2017 and 2018. A vibrant yet undocumented chapter in the country's music history. The 10 tracks, originally released exclusively on cassette and heard only by a small circle of listeners, are now compiled for the first time on vinyl as “Tóxico Tapes”. The collection captures the scene's raw, hands-on energy through off-kilter rhythms, low-key EBM, ominous wave and free-form synth excursions.

Founded and curated by the former DJ and producer Narco Marco, the Tóxico label became a hub for Switzerland's analogue gear enthusiasts. Between 2016 and 2020, it released a series of 10 tapes – albums and compilations – that now stand as a blueprint of the DIY, machine-driven underground of the time. Narco Marco is a key figure in Swiss electronic music. As a long-time clerk at “Oldiesshop” record store in Bern, he has championed eclectic sounds across decades. His in-depth knowledge of 1980s music, combined with his work as a musician, avid record collector, and founder of the “Hot Jam” label, influenced an entire generation of musicians and DJs in Switzerland at the time.

Subject To Restrictions Discs joins forces with Narco Marco to present a selected set of 10 songs as a tribute to Tóxico and this creative era. The material draws primarily from the Autumn Tape and Winter Tape compilations, which spotlighted artists from Zurich and Bern – two cities at the heart of this analogue revival.

Long an unsung hero of the underground, Langenberg (a.k.a Max Heesen) has a string of quality releases to his name, both on his own solo as a part of his Ribn moniker with Manuel Tur. This outing on Dessous Recordings provides yet another string to his bow; 'Shadows' is a supremely soulful outing featuring the vocal talents of Blakkat. Liquid deep and balanced perfectly between euphoric and melancholic, 'Shadow' sees Mark Bell (Blakkat) deliver an emotional invocation over a beautifully crafted track, with echoes of the master Larry Heard clearly present. 

Also included in the release are three extraordinary remixes - UK legend Atjazz providing a sumptuously realized fusion of melody and driving, dancefloor urgency - both as a vocal and instrumental version.

Brooklyn’s house veterans Frank & Tony (Scissor & THread) drop a huge remix of their own to complete the package – serving up their distinctive and timeless NYC deep and raw vibes to complement Langenberg’s original fully.

With the signing of Tale Of Us we added the shooting stars of the year to our festival‘s line-up. The Italian duo of Matteo and Karm has started to rewrite the rules of House Music about a year ago. Their mixture of House and Techno with dashes of Nu-Disco, Pop and even Rock elements is so impulsive and emotionally deep, that you will feel goosebumps all over your body. With their destinctive sound they are among THE Slo-Mo-house pioneers just next to the Wolf & Lamb family and Art Department. Meanwhile it has become almost a MUST to own a remix by them. Labels such as Kompakt, Life & Death, or Visionquest favour them as much as WhoMadeWho, DJ T., Thugfucker, GusGus and many more. We hope that Tale Of Us will continue to produce many more beautiful songs for us to enjoy and we really do look forward to a great set at FLY BerMuDa 2011.
