TimeKeeper

The song is a departure from their usual shoegaze/alt rock style. It revisits a culture very near and dear to Mexican members Alex Scott (lead guitar/vocals), and Rudy Rivera (guitar/synth). 
Sirenas combines the beat of traditional cumbia with more contemporary elements, such as synths and electronic music. Its magically dark lyrics speak of Alex’s ashes floating around Latin America being carried by mermaids after his time of passing. This song also reminisces one of the most sacred traditions of Mexican culture –Día de Los Muertos, while accepting death as a natural part of life, and having fun in the process too.

November 7, 2023 (Austin, TX) - Whimsical psych-rock 4-piece, SATALiGHTS follow-up their zany cumbia single, Sirenas, with the eponymous track off their upcoming LP, Veluga.


Where their previous full-length, Little Star, explored the chaos of the cosmos, Veluga (a playful misspelling of the Raffi–renowned Baby), embarks on a voyage of self-discovery with childlike wonder and takes a nautical plunge  into frontman, Alex Scott’s innermost thoughts and feelings.


Equipped with literary wit à la Maurice Sendak, Veluga invites the listener on a storybook adventure, putting them in the space boots of a young hero piloting a lotus flower through the cosmos. The astro-marine fairytale is immersed in the soft warm glow of guitars run through a phaser, a crisp “boots n’ cats” beat, bubbly bass lines, a wildly catchy hook, and the soothing hoots of whale song. On the journey, we meet the goddess of “remembering to breathe” and are treated to a kirtan bridge & folktronica solo that evokes the spirit of George Harrison.


SATALiGHTS is a multinational psych-rock outfit who are “vital contributors to the vibrant indie rock scene in Austin” (Cosmic Clash). Their unique and celestial brand of post-rock sonically evokes the capricious songwriting of Sigúr Ros, playful imagery of Devendra Banhart, and raw shooting star energy of The Smashing Pumpkins. Recently, their “earnest reverence and playful pageantry” (KUTx) have earned them a featured spot at La Festival de Calle Seis.
