This was from my one and only Quintet performance at the now defunct Farafina Cafe & Lounge in Harlem. Just as we began to close our first set out with "My Funny Valentine" I made the last minute decision to have the rhythm section set it up over a reggae groove. Being the consummate professionals that they are everybody fell right in line.

The Comforter (Live @ American Legion)

No trumpet this time, just straight rhymes. A spiritually inclined verse I penned. Done over the Large Professor produced "You're Da Man" beat used by my favorite MC, Nas. 
I recorded this right after laying down some horn tracks for hip hop artist Ace Clark. 
Whether as a trumpeter or a lyricist, my aim is to glorify Jesus in my music.

I dedicate this beat to my recently deceased best friend Jamal Craig. I made this last summer and Jamal loved it. I had hoped to hear him spit over it sometime but God had other plans. The cover artwork is from a pic we took together back in 2004...
