first mix of 2021... its definitely been a while. not gonna lie, it's been pretty hard trying to find time or even the passion to make mixes anymore. 

the past year and a half have been exceptionally... wild, to say the least. i feel like most of us are definitely all different people now, trying to either find normalcy again or trying to define a new normal. either case, i like to think we're all just trying to ascend from the depths and lows of last year. here's to an ascendant future...

this month marks a year since i started making DJ mixes and posting them on here. i know it's not much and i'm still a rookie when it comes to alot of things, but it's definitely safe to say that this hobby has been growing on me ever since i started last summer, and without a doubt it's become a favorite passion of mine. idk where i'll go with this but i hope i'll keep growing and improving for the future. anyways, i made this mix with that thought in mind - to show my progress and what i've picked up from trial and error so far. i've never worked harder or longer on any other mix before, and i've never been more excited to share this with you all... hope you enjoy it!! thanks for listening fams, please like and share if you like :)

so i usually try to makes sets that have a theme or narrative around it... for this one i originally wanted to make a mix with a feeling of being at home - whether it be in the comfort of your own house or just a mindset of seeking shelter from hard times… but what came out felt a bit more primal, and seemed more about the feeling of being lost in general and trying to find balance. hope y'all can relate and enjoy.

sorry i haven't been posting as much recently, i've been dealing with writer's block in terms of making mixes that i felt were good enough to put out... maybe it was because i was losing motivation because i was tired of work and school everyday. but i stuck thru it and finally came together for this set.

i've been thinking alot about the future, probably because i'll be graduating soon and need to start planning more for my future/adulthood lol. naturally, this made me think about the past too... how we didn't have to worry so much about the future, because the future was still so far away. well now, the future is right in front of me, and i'm trying to figure it out along the way.

Hey guys, so I’m back with what you can call another feels mix? or should I say the start of a new mix miniseries?? Not for sure yet, but I know that I wanted this project to be different from other spring mixes. It started out as something that I wanted to make to encapsulate my feelings and experiences of the last few months, but then I realized a single hour-long mix isn’t nearly enough to fit in everything I wanted to do. So I decided to tentatively break it up into 2-3 parts that should also be coming out in the following weeks as well, and it’s sort of a documentation of my learning and growing process.

Also sorry if this mix doesn’t sound as cheerful as others or what’s usually expected of springtime. The last few weeks or months have been a challenging time for me in terms of personal growth, change, and just figuring out myself in relation to others, particularly those have always been there for me. This mix is catharsis for that growing and healing process, an internal struggle to admit and face a reality that I’d put off for so long. So with that, hope you can also enjoy the journey with me.

DIALECTIC

Like many other people right now, I also have loved ones who are currently working in the medical field trying to fight this pandemic right now. They are the ones working 24/7 to keep our communities safe, healthy, and functioning... the fact that I had the opportunity to participate in a charity stream is beyond humbling. I'm grateful to say that we as a collective raised over $9000 towards the Dollar Challenge, a donation drive by Modern Enlightenment to procure vital PPEs for our healthcare workers. In total, the Dollar Challenge has so far raised about $26,000 towards this effort, with 8,000 masks already delivered to several LA hospitals and another 20,000 on the way!

Access to PPEs is essential to keeping OUR healthcare workers safe, and I'm so proud and thankful to have been part of an effort to help ensure that. I'm really hoping this makes a big impact, and that we also have future events continuing this effort. Thank you to LPDT, modern enlightment, and BTO Collective for coordinating CYBERFEST and the donation drive.

This is just beginning of the fight to keep our communities safe and healthy. Let's keep each other safe, stay home, wash your hands, and stand in solidarity with ALL frontline workers!! Also please do not go to the beach... or inject lysol lol

quarantine sessions: 001 - trapped in the house

i made this set for@embracepastel 's OMNI 2 event, which is a livestream series dedicated to showcasing extraordinary audio/visual cinematic, narrative-based sets from talented producers and DJs. i was pretty honored and excited to be a part of this series, not only because it was my first time creating a visual set, but also because the story i wanted to tell, i believe, fits with the current atmosphere that we're all living in right now - how do we stay mentally, emotionally, physically,  and spiritually well during this time of crisis? how can we be happy with every thing going on?

for me, part of happiness is realizing the community we have, the support we have, and how we can find strength through each other... happiness is a process, and it takes a village.
