Dan Baartz is back on Trojan House with his signature big bass deep-tech sound. Reflection is an odyssey landscaped by a motion full drum groove on top of a coarse throbbing bass that forces movement. Adding to the flow of this atmospheric creeper is some dark and gorgeous synth work intertwined with a tight inspirational vocal.

Botox hits us hard down low again with a deep droning bass. The groove is constructed around the delayed vocal hook, and the track is complimented with an array of atmospheric pads that create a very danceable, driving and dark vibe.

Hugo steps up, and his remix of Reflection can be described as anything but stable! With a low hovering bass line morphing in and out of the drum groove in unity to keep floors moving, the use of powerful bass drones, synth waves, and tailed fills across the spectrum will have people on their toes trying to keep up.

Pablo Say's interpretation of Botox is a massive tech house monster! Once again, this cut has a dark eerie vibe compliments of the choices of pad and bass tones. With snappy effected drum fills and builds, it's slightly faster pace and deep sub bass, this track has the power to move the toughest dance floors!

Citizenn is the moniker of London (via Nottingham) based artist Laurence B. Taking his name from a passing visual reference in the Manga film Akira Citizenn originally arrived via releases on MadTech, the label owned by New Jersey house don Kerri Chandler. Within a year, after singles on Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks, 20/20 Vision as well as on the label extension of Love Fever, his favourite underground party, Citizenn had been named DJ Magazine’s Breakthrough DJ of 2013. 

As the musical journey continued, 6 am stints at Berlin's infamous Panorama Bar and a globe-trotting diary taking him from Japan, Tulum, Kiev and everywhere in between, he distilled all these new experiences into his debut LP on Damian Lazarus’s ever-influential Crosstown Rebels imprint. The album entitled 'Human Interface' dealt with themes of human intersectionality with our mechanical counterparts through a tapestry of the tightly wound house and techno influenced an EP, the records receiving national radio play and praise from his peers. Citizenn has been a mainstay at popular Ibiza hotspots such as DC10, Blue Marlin and Sankeys for the quickly growing Abode brand of which he has also released with.

Citizenn has found a clarity of vision within the circus that is life as a successful musician.

‘Bedouin Ride’ is one of the standout tracks from DJ T.’s ‘Trans Orient Express’ album and it now gets a standalone release along with a selection of fresh new remixes from Musumeci, Theus Mago and Balam. ‘Bedouin Ride’ directly references that in its title, but also musically, with desert-blues guitars riding over the drums to bring a deeply thoughtful and emotional vibe. First to remix is Musumeci, a project by Mauro Di Martino, a Sicilian DJ and producer since the late 80s with releases on Innervisions and Connaisseur Recordings. His version is a tantalising remake with suspensory synths, sci-fi effects and a warm bassline to carry you deep into the night.

Next up on Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records, we welcome two newcomers to the label in the form of Max Chapman and Kodewerk who have teamed up together to deliver their debut 'Dusk' EP. Bursting onto the underground House scene in 2011, Max Chapman has taken on a journey of energy, creativity and unconditional passion and it's easy to see why Adam Beyer, Riva Starr, Steve Lawler, Jamie Jones, and Hot Since 82 have supported his work. Kodewerk, on the other hand, has spent the last decade immersing himself in Dance music, honing his craft and has found success on labels including Resonance, Nervous, SIKR, Etiquette and Deeperfect and has played shows in some of the world's leading clubs including EGG LDN, Ministry of Sound, Studio 338, Sankeys Ibiza, Eden and Es Paradis. The 'Dusk' EP is an epic journey from start to finish, fusing together hypnotic drums, mesmerising atmospherics, acid inspired bouncing b-lines, uplifting vocal chants, cosmic percussion and a terrifically woozy blend of swirling synth motifs which will suck you in to another world.

Max Chapman, Kodewerk - Dusk

We welcome Midlands-born DJ and producer, Citizenn, to Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records this month with brand new single, 'Stay With Me', accompanied by a killer remix from label favourite, Black Circle. Taking his name from a passing visual reference in the Manga film Akira, Citizenn, has seen releases on labels including Knee Deep In Sound, W&O Street Tracks, Mobilee, &Friends, Kaluki, Do Not Sleep and ABODE, and his DJ travels have taken him all over the world, from big festivals such as Hideout in Croatia to the Techno legend that is Berghain. 'Stay With Me' is indicative of Citizenn's unique sound, fusing together rolling percussion, moody melancholic vocals, dark and brooding synth lines all held together with an infectious bassline over ominous atmospherics. Black Circle's remix puts a different spin on the record bringing a more tribal feel to the track offering laidback drum grooves, hypnotic melodic loops, shuffling hats, intricate piano melodies and a grooving low-end to create nothing short of an Afro House masterpiece.
