Can you believe it? Fall of 2014 marks the 20TH ANNIVERSARY of YOSHITOSHI, the seminal record label founded by Deep Dish in 1994. To celebrate, we are bringing the classics back, remastered and with new remixes from an amazing group of heavy hitters from all corners of the dance world.

Given that Yoshitoshi’s roots are ingrained in house music, it’s only fitting to start the #YoshiClassics campaign with Eddie Amador’s “House Music”. A true Yoshitoshi classic released in 1998 that went on to become a global phenomena. The hypnotic rhythm and infectious “Not Everyone Understands House Music” has become the preach anthem for generations of dance music lovers.

After over a decade in the music industry, Toolroom is going back to its roots. We’re reigniting our passion for House music and we want to share it with you with the first of a brand new album series, ‘Toolroom Live 01’, mixed by Mark Knight, Weiss and Adrian Hour and featuring huge tracks by Bontan, Tube & Berger, Dosem and more.

The ‘Toolroom Live’ albums are opportunities for us to highlight our key artists, present new tracks, and give you a taste of the live experience. ‘Toolroom Live 01’ takes you from underground House music right through to main room Techno, emphasising the vast musical spectrum we are privileged to occupy and shining a spotlight on the three core artists who will be leading our label into the next ten years.

No longer an obscure name, Weiss hit the charts with ‘My Sister’ being played by everyone from Loco Dice to Groove Armada. As with this track, his mix on ‘Toolroom Live 01’ is created by and for the lover of real House music, referencing the past and looking to the future. Featuring tracks by the likes of MK, Hot Since 82, Harry Romero, Bontan, Tube & Berger and Doorly, alongside a brand new exclusive from Weiss himself, ‘I Believe’, this is a mix that’s all about craftsmanship; it’s about the emotions that the tracks evoke; it’s about a great passion for House music. 

At the other end of the spectrum, Adrian Hour is no stranger to this ethos. Well regarded by the likes of Carl Cox and the Suara team for his jaw dropping productions, he infuses his tracks and Toolroom Live mix with an indescribable quality. Adrian Hour deftly weaves his way through the many shades of techno, incorporating new tracks from Pirupa, Erik Hagleton and Coyu & Ramiro Lopez, as well as huge exclusives from himself, D-Unity, Montenegro and more.

Finally, Mark Knight ties the album together with his ability to make memorable main room House music and his talent for creating moments that are reminisced about for months, even years, after the event – and this is the focus of his Toolroom Live mix:

Adrian Hour - Lost In Groove

In a town where the boundaries between reality and illusion seemed blurred, there existed a secret competition: the quest for the most intoxicating brew. Every year, the inhabitants competed to create the most hallucinogenic and captivating mixture.

The mayor, a dark alchemist known as Professor Psyche, was obsessed with creating a potion that would take people on a journey of madness and euphoria. He mixed forbidden ingredients, strange substances that altered the mind and distorted perception.

Meanwhile, a solitary witch known as Madame Ecstasy prepared her own concoction. She cultivated exotic plants with psychotropic properties, blending intoxicating herbs with hallucinogenic mushrooms to create a drink that promised incomparable sensations.

The day of the competition arrived, and the inhabitants gathered in the shadows to taste the forbidden brews. The first to try was the mayor with his insane potion. The participants were caught in a whirlwind of altered perceptions, their minds floating in an ocean of delirium.

Then came Madame Ecstasy's turn. Her drink seemed innocent, but once ingested, it took drinkers into a state of bliss and trance where time lost all meaning.

In the end, Madame Ecstasy's intoxicating potion won the competition, revealing that in the pursuit of ecstasy, some were willing to plunge into the depths of illusion. And since that day, in the shadows of the town, thrill-seekers have lost themselves in the mazes of madness, desperately seeking to regain the fleeting ecstasy provided by the forbidden brews.

Renowned record label and events brand Renaissance announce the next release in their acclaimed The ReMix Collection. Here there present a scintillating reworking of Jaydee’s 1992 R&S classic ‘Plastic Dreams’ from one of the leading names in techno: producer, DJ and MOOD Records label boss Nicole Moudaber.

Nicole Moudaber will be playing a unique sunrise B2B at the debut Renaissance Tulum at Zamna Tulum, Mexico on 4 January. She will be playing alongside Charlotte de Witte, Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg - who all make their Tulum debut.
