In the underground scene, the 2010s were clearly about the renaissance of the '80s. There was a renewed focus on new wave, post-punk, darkwave and coldwave, but also a phoenix of disappearing electronic styles such as EBM, minimal-synth, synth-punk and dark-electro. Moreover, in recent years, young titans like Happy 707 from Buenos Aires have been breaking down the boundaries between styles at an accelerating pace and with unprecedented intensity! The duo of May Mc Laren and Tomás Palmariello mix insanely good acid influences with grim, marching EBM with a genius flair - creating a totally unique and club-busting essence, which is jokingly(?) provocatively(?) called TechnoTrash.

Danse Macabre Episode 1 - HAPPY 707

Hello folks, after a short break on Soundcloud and some fulminant Blank Wave parties with Perel, Shubostar and Lauer, we're back again with a highly anticipated double feature: Welcome Andi, the New York City-based DJ and producer, who is also founder of the dark synth and industrial party and label, Synthicide. She contributed this marvellous exclusive mix for our Blank Wave series and is also playing her debut in Frankfurt on our event on Saturday, June 16 2023, at ono2 accompanied by Shia LaBiff. 

Andi now holds her ninth-year residency at Brooklyn’s notorious venue Bossa Nova Civic Club. Her aesthetic combines her devotion to underground 1980s industrial, EBM, new beat, and sleazy synth whose dark beats create an exciting soundscape that is unarguably danceable. She has DJed all over the world and is known in niche music circuits for her ability to mix together older tracks with new ones to create a diverse and unique set. Additionally, Andi is part of the ItaloMatic crew, a resident at The Lot Radio, and a resident DJ at the dark 80s new wave night, Music For the Masses.

Her own productions aim to challenge the expectations within the confines of the masculine EBM genre, often focusing on the ideas of revenge and strength through a woman’s perspective. Andi released her first EP, Corpse to Corpus, on aufnahme + wiedergabe in 2020, the Torque Force split EP with Randolph & Mortimer on Mecanica Records in 2021 and recently the EP Compelling Evidence on a+w. Now available for pre-order via Mannequin Records is her Parafernales EP feat. Machino.

Fruitbat is a Brooklyn based DJ & event producer haunting and shaking up dancefloors with sounds of flamboyant synth, EBM and industrial. He is the organizer and staple DJ of the monthly queer dark dance party Sissies of Mercy. 

With his sets you can expect to find laughter and moments of camp in the mix of what can only be described as evil, vampiric body music. With his special blend of tracks and curation of parties, he continues to strive to make space for queer people in the macho dominated genres of body music and industrial.

We are pleased to welcome Sob Story to the Kaos Podcast Series. 

Sob Story is the main collaborative project of London-based producers and DJ duo Oliver and Vilhelm. Familiar faces within the city's clandestine corners, the two have respectively cut their teeth playing prominent parties across the capital including HTBX, Judgement Hall, UNFOLD and Aria.  The Sob Story project marries the oppressive melancholy of Vilhelm's body-music sleaze with Oliver's dystopian, steely EBM. Collectively cultivating their nuanced oeuvre, the pair's sonic landscape is composed of cold electronics, lacquered drums and gleaming synths. 

Sob Story play Kaos London on Saturday 16 September alongside Soft Crash. Their first Ep Doghouse is releasing on Khemia Records in September with remixes from ANFS and Harsh Mentor.
