🐈‍⬛ Here comes my 3 hour ride at Acid Bogen, which was also my Kater Debut :) Berliner Techno Zähne invited me to play the perfect Sektfrühstück slot from 10am-1pm. After years of dancing in front of the dj booth, it was a dream come true to get behind the decks and serve some Sektfrühstück among friends and happy ravers.. 🍾

Starting off melodic and light, energy-increasing throughout the set, this ride will take you from melodic house with a pinch of dirty groovy techhouse, to indie dance, accentuated with lots of bounce, catchy vocals (!) and sooome dark disco. And lots of gute Laune 🙃

Let’s dive deep into the clear water of progressive soundscapes in this weeks Traumcast Nr. 43. @julianewolfmusic  ☺️

A continuous flow of shakers and driving beats build the road for myriads of intertwined synthesizer. Like lovers they playfully tease each other, building distance through their dancing movements only to be pulled back together by the gravity of their unknown connection. Thus bound in a back and forth of longing and destiny, they create a story that needs to be heard.

Juliane Wolf mesmerizes us with an arrangement almost composed by herself and remixes of her tracks.

Three levitating Questions to Juliane:

🍂 What is a skill or talent that you've always wanted to learn but haven't had the opportunity to?

I would like to give workshops where I can pass on my knowledge of producing and DJing, but I still need to develop a bit of self-confidence to do that, which is also a big goal of mine.
I would also like to be fluent in Spanish.

🍂 What is a personal goal you are working towards in 2023?

For many years now, I've wanted to go to South America to play and show my music there. I often get messages from people there and have been dreaming of traveling and playing there for so long.

🍂 What is the best piece of advice you have ever received and how has it influenced your life?

I had a point in my life where I wanted to stop making music for various reasons. But my friends and family kept encouraging me and persuading me to keep going. I am very grateful to them for that.

@nico-tober’s adventure in the electronic music scene began in 2015. In addition to DJ’ing, he is also a party organizer, and the owner of the label & podcast series KataHaifisch. 

His musical spectrum is extremely diverse and has constantly developed over time, with his current preference ranging between driving downtempo and melodic techno. 

He loves to invest his time and devotion into music and the corresponding cosmos around it.

At the end of the year, things are known to get a little rougher. The wind picks up and pushes clouds in front of the beloved open-air sun. In the evenings, there's a stiff breeze and the whistling that sweeps through the leaves of the trees signals the dark season. With our beloved memories in our luggage, we curl up on the couch and let the outdoor experiences run through our mind's eye again. Outside, the wind whips incessantly against the façade.
Autumn is here, spreading splashes of color here and gray fog there. In its inner conflict, which nature imposes on it as a link between the extremes, it develops a character all of its own. It not only combines the elements of the preceding and following, but also gives the world its own peculiar brilliance. On the one hand effervescent, on the other emphatically in love with detail, he enchants and gently accompanies the slowly tiring spirits into the early dawning cold.

Today's deep story by Maria Theresia von Eberg is just as in love with detail as the fall. She combines downtempo with driving bass and covers this mixture with her own fresh ideas. Here is my latest live recording of our last event "Konception - Erobos in Ekstase". This set features a dynamic mix of dark disco and indie dance tracks. It's a bit faster than my regular comfort zone, but it complemented both my playtime and the energy of the crowd exceptionally well. I'm truly delighted with this one—it's definitely a memorable performance.

✘ maybe could you tell us how did you get into the music cooking pot ?
- I started organizing techno partys with my friends back home when we were 15 and our big role model was Bar 25.
At that time some of my friends were dj´s already, but I was mostly responsible for the bar. My love for the music, especially Downtempo, was already big at that time, but then, about four years ago, I needed to start to dj myself and since that time I´m obsessed with it and for me its such a big passion and pleasure, that I´m curious to see, where this wonderful journey will take me :)

Not all first times are really great, but my first time playing at Acid Bogen in @kater_blau a couple weeks ago really really surpassed what I had envisioned and could have wished for the occasion. Initially, I was supposed to play B2B once again with my dear friend @janoma, but unfortunately he couldn't be present on that day. Luckily, the slot was perfect for me alone as well - early Saturday morning, sunrise time.

I absolutely love to play sunrise (and sunset 😉) sets, as they are perfect for dwelling between light and darkness. In those early hours, when tiredness kicks in, but the longing to connect and to dance is stronger, the atmosphere tends to be very inviting for warmth, charm, depth, dreaminess and intimacy. And so it was, in the so called here's and now's which took place then. I think I had never seen Acid Bogen so full at that time of the morning as in the last hour of my set (: More important than that, I had the right people by my side supporting me, which makes all the difference!! All of this together simply created such an amazing vibe for the brand new day that just started. A day which I don't want to ever forget ❤️ so much gratitude to all the dancers who danced their souls out, especially to my long-term listeners and those closer ones which I carry dearly in my heart 🙏

🎵 Der heutige Katahaifisch Podcast ist mal wieder ein Hochgenuss der gepflegten Down- und Midtempo-Kunst. Bouncy, dirty und auch ein bisschen verspielt serviert uns Piet van Noord seine persönlichen Favoriten des Genres. Der Münchner DJ und Produzent ist mittlerweile seit über 20 Jahren an den Decks und seine Expertise unverkennbar. Seine Diskografie und seinen Erfahrungsschatz zieren über 150 Auftritte. 2017 rief van Noord dann auch eine eigene Veranstaltungsreihe ins Leben. In München ist er regelmäßig im Bahnwärter Thiel und Zur Gruam zu sehen und hören. https://soundcloud.com/pullichomba are since a while one of the hottest down- and midtempo acts in Germany. A good portion of bounce meets melody and organic elements. A mixture that simply fits. That's why we're so happy that the two of them joining our Live-Special series with an outstanding recording from the Beate Uwe. Look forward to almost 2 hours of danceable music. It's worth it.

✔️ What are your musical influences? What are your musical backgrounds? 

Our musical influences come definitely from the dancefloor. Feeling the music and connecting with the story of the DJ is something that both of us really enjoy as dancers. And that is something that we try to bring to our Sets as well... Telling our story, connecting hearts and grooving all together in one rhythm is something that we enjoy most about being DJs. Before we met each other, we both liked folk music very much, still do ;). Since Chomba moved from Chile to Australia he got into the electronic music scene and started to enroll in ableton production classes. When Pulli moved to Berlin she went from D'n'B to Balkan Beats partys until she found her love for electronic music.

Since we met and decided to make music together our style is constantly shaping. First, we lived some years in Chile and played some afro house (our first release was actually an afro house track). We love to combine melodies and vocals with rhythmical elements. Back then we were more influenced by South American rhythms, sounds and elements. Since we moved to Berlin in 2022 we have been more and more influenced by the Berlin music scene, which has way darker and bassier sounds on the plate for us.

✔️ Thoughts about the Set:
It's interesting now to think about our musical backgrounds and analyze the Set we played for the New Year's Party at Beate Uwe. It was 6 am and the dancefloor was still super crowded. We went from some melodic tunes to indie dance and it even got a little discoish at the end. It was a really interesting and funny journey trying to catch the vibe of the crowd. It's also a journey into our past - connecting the melodic, rhythmical elements with some darker tunes. It was a lot of fun.

✔️ What is a good afterhour for you?
What we like about afterhours, is that there is always this unique vibe that was created by everybody together during the night... The afterhours we played were all pretty different, some were faster and darker and others were softer and more melodic.
We love both types but our hearts definitely go more with the softer ones. Creating that special vibe, where everybody is just enjoying, eyes closed, forgetting about everything that happens around us, just being in that moment together- is such a privilege. And it doesn't matter if there is a full dancefloor or just a few people left - it's about the connection and love that everybody feels in that moment.

This is a very late tribute to the 2023, long after the days of this past memorable year are numbered. Maybe, it took so long for me to upload this set because I was busy, maybe because it was harder to say goodbye than expected. To finally do so, I would like to share this recording with you guys, which was played at @suedpol-hamburg on Dec. 16th. 2023. "Trio Infernale" refers to my two very dear friends and me, who accompanied me.

Being one of the first electronic night clubs, I have ever visited, it means the world to me that I got the opportunity to debut in the holy halls of Südpol in 2023. THANK YOU so much for the invitation!!! For me, this venue has somehow managed to not only maintain its attraction to a vibrant & colorful crowd, but thereby also its unique vibe, I fell in love with years ago. 

About last year:
Let’s be honest... I didn’t feel too nostalgic about 2023 coming to an end since it has been a non-stop freaking hassle, - serving challenge after challenge with little to no time for rest & recreation. 

It was the year, I found myself struggling at various tasks/ areas in life, leaving me to feel lonely & insecure at times. It‘s been the year, my organization skills oscillated between catastrophic & respectable, resulting in me finally achieving an additional degree, a lifelong appointment in my academic career & taking over new responsibilities for my @afterhour-sounds family.
It was the year, I got the chance to debut at Fusion & Fiasco Festival, Kater Blau & Mensch Meier, I travelled to Jordan & Oslo, only to name a few amazing venues/ places, I‘ve been lucky enough to visit/ perform at. 
It’s was the year, I spend 316 hours on trains or /and got stranded somehere on the way. And finally, it was the year of goodbyes & new beginnings, of leaving my old home & stumbling upon a new one - shattering my future plans to make room for new adventures. 

Though, that’s okay because DJing, or music in general, is remaining the one passion in my life, that will always be there, in which I find comfort whenever it’s needed & that nobody can take away from me. But equally important is that this love has lead me to (re-)meet inspiring people, old & new ones, many of which have remained or grown close friends. 

So, thanks to all my dearest companions for your love, support & patience with me - I can’t wait to embark on the Expedition 2024, hopefully at some point towards Südpol again 🔬💥🔭
