Luckily, I did another soca music demo which is far better than the other soca demos I did, at least I tried. I'm not sure the sound  quality is better, though. I used the triangle wave for the bass, trance-like saw wave for the riffs and the robotic sounds, and that soca beat. Unfortunately, I doesn't sound that good for me because I rushed it for no reason. :(

I can't believe that i made another soca composition again, this time with square wave chords in an arpeggio effect. Good thing this one is far better than the previous one because it is a complete mess.

Triple Jazz Spirit

It is a 2-minute track that it is noting special to talk about. Out of all the tracks I've done, this is my least favourite track of all time. I tried to make it a happy composition with bass slides to make it more cool, but I scrapped the idea. Instead, I made it a bit more tragic and solemn with an mixture of funky beats, 8-bit sounds and an orchestra feel. And It feels incomplete and rushed to begin with because I didn't have enough time to finish it because of rehearsals for the Birdsong Concert at Queen's Hall. Well, at least its passable. :) I'll try hard next time.

Perfect Gem

I finally back in Trinidad and I'm going to compose music again. Hooray! :D

After I made a short demo with the Flash MML language back in early 2015, I decided to remake this track from scratch with a different music software with some new additions into it such as the bass slides that will sound more sexy than ever and some new synths with effects on detune. 

It doesn't take long to complete but I'm sure the entire track is almost identical.

Soca Fire Ting 2015

This is an interesting one. It is a modern soca track with a mix of house, techno, edm and a bit of chill. I added an synth organ, synth bells, supersaw and some dated synths. It has a variety of soca beats and bass slides.

Pan Love Riddim 2015

It can be describe as a sequel to Soca on De Rave. It has fast soca beats and many more aggressive synths. The alarm sounds are back as well including real instruments like the brass, the steelpan and the timpani. It is a jump-up soca track with techno sounds. Pretty experimental for me, but I doesn't fit for a soca track and it is nowhere as good as Soca on De Rave. But at least the rest of the part is pretty insane and random.

Carnival On De Rave

This composition has a chilling vibe to it. The original idea of the track was in the Barbados vacation where I sat down in the plunge pool with the sound of the waterfall and everything else is so quiet and peaceful that gives the beautiful evening a complete sparkle like a star. 

So, anyways, this composition has some choir samples, concert drums and spacey synths in the beginning. While the rest of the track is just filled with vibraphones, marimbas, pianos, brasses and other instruments. It sounds like a spy movie with a waltz style. :) 
Pretty interesting, isn't it?

The Fountain of Success

Finally, I made a spiritual successor to RoboLogic. Maybe a sequel of it, I guess.

It features arpeggio chords of 8-bit sounds, random sound effects from the cd scratch, a synth bass, jazzy chords, synth organs, a wobble bass and many more. In addition, I made a new synth snare upgrade that will emulate the sound of a real snare drum.

This track is nowhere as aggressive as its predecessor, but it is more complex, funky and ambitious at the same time. I feel so proud of this composition and it is probably the best one.

Just like RoboLogic, I used some recycled melodies of my old demos of 2014 and a short music demo called "Funky Arpeggios", but with more variety of notes.

I'm sure that I'll make a trilogy for them but I'll figure it out eventually.

Update on March 9th 2017: I later changed my song's name to ElectroLogic to avoid confusion with Daft Punk's Technologic

ElectroLogic

This is the 3rd and final track of the "Logic" series. Unlike the first 2 tracks,"RoboLogic" and "TechnoLogic", It is completely different. This track features some random sequences of patterns, chiptune sounds with random notes all over the place, a lot of pitch bending, some dubstep, glitch and acid techno elements and some unusual and odd sounds. Sorry, I can't explain that well. 

Overall, I find that the entire track itself is on drugs and I took 2-3 hours to complete it. It is ok, but nowhere as good as the previous 2 tracks.

RandomLogic

I haven't use Soundcloud for a while because I'm really busy for a while on music classes and drawing. 
Here is my new track, "Soca Randomness". Like other soca compositions I made, it is a combination of soca and chiptune, Yeah, nothing special to talk about it. However, one of the music unique aspect of the track itself is the sound effects at random. Yep, thanks to the title of this song, it makes kinda sense. It also have some uses of the steelpan, the brasses and the orchestra hit samples. 

I originally finished the track before I started with "Mad Soca" and I set it in a A minor key, but I changed the key signature to Bb minor instead since I can be a bit repetitive and tedious after a while. And lastly, I scrapped the bass improvisions such as the bass slides because it'll make it to sexy. Thank god! :)

Soca Randomness

Yes, it is the exact same formula for mixing genres into one. Pretty experimental, isn't it? Not really. It could be possible, though.

Anyways, are you ready for some madness. Well, here is the song of you.

Mad Soca is a modern soca/chiptune-esque track filled with sound effects, noises, duty cycles, strong rhythm, violent synth sounds, chorus effects and a dark atmosphere.  This is the most impressive soca song I've ever composed at the time. :) Everything about this composition is a bit repetitive at first but a bit more variety into the notes. It set in the key of F# minor. 

I have good news, My new D&B/Jungle track for Halloween was completed early last week and it will be coming out soon on October 31st. I'm not tell you the name of the track but the track is kinda fascinating for its unusual-ness. So, be patient or Death will take your soul away. Just kidding.

Mad Soca

Hey, guys. I'm back again for a great scare. MMMMMWWWWAAAHHHAHAHAHAHA!!!! 

Anyways, Ladies and gentlemen, I proudly present to you all my latest Halloween track, "Deadly 666Y". Yeah, I don't think this title is appropriate because of the numbers. 

I was planning to post it on Halloween on October 31st but I decided to release it early because I have a hangout at Pizza Hut on Saturday with the group . :)

And I also made a cover of it using colouring pencils. It's not the best but at least its simple to the eyes. But its not scary either.

This is my first Drum & Bass/Jungle track with Halloween elements.  I emulated some scary sounds effects (with no need for stock sound effects) like the thunder, the wolf and the evil laugh by using some custom techniques of the synthesizer thanks to the midi automated controls or something. It's not perfect but its satisfying to say the least (although they can be dated at times). Good thing I didn't use some famous drum samples.

I added some instruments such as the music box and the pipe organ that fits well for this track for me with gives it an eerie and spooky feeling. I feel like I'm having goosebumps. But I digress.

Just like my other tracks, it is chiptune-based with several genres combined. I took advantage of the pulse wave by putting more control on the pulse width to emulated some synths from the Commodore 64 expect with no ring modulation with gives it a computer music feel to it.

So, there's not much to say about this track. The best way I can describe it as a D&B Halloween track on drugs with random sequences and sounds all over the place.

My next track, "WinterHolic", will be posted on Christmas Eve. So I decided to take a break for a while to do some other activities.

Deadly 666Y (NEW TRACK)

Description:
After a month hiatus from music composing, and the Dinsley Court music concert that I performed there, I'm back once again. 

We all know that Christmas is coming soon. I'm exciting for it. Its the time of year where all the kids, teens and adults can get special christmas gifts. Yeah, Christmas is all about sharing and giving, not presents.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my 2nd Christmas track, "WinterHolic". Although, it is not a sequel to Christmas Utopia because this track is a complete different story. I composed the track in-house despite I gave information about the track itself on my facebook page. I made 2 versions of it. The first version has an solemn atmosphere, trills from the flute and violin, and a key of C minor and Quadruple time, but I scrapped this one because I found it too depressing, boring and it wasn't good enough for release. The 2nd version is much different and interesting. Unfortunately, I barely use the chiptune melodies which is kinda disappointing for me but it does have some jazz and blues elements, christmas jingle bells, colourful chords, fm-like bells, synth organs (barely used in this track), real instruments and more. And speaking of chiptune sounds, these 2 channel pulse waves have pulse width modulation which makes them a SID sound and the 8-bit tricks such as arpeggio and one channel echo are return again.

The intro is almost identical to the first version with a few differences. Firstly, it is much shorter. Secendly, the trills for the flute and violin are left untouched. Thirdly,  the wind sound effect and the timpani were added. And lastly, it is cheerful rather than tragic. :) The rest of the track is very dreamy, jolly and impressive. The drums is also realistic. I originally made some synth drums but I quickly rejected the idea due to its low quality. Overall, I think this is a fantastic track. It has a lot of variety on the notes, solos from different instruments and synths, and it's much better than Christmas Utopia.

I originally planned the track to be posted on Christmas Day and then Christmas Eve but it's not a good choice for me. So, I decided to release it early before Christmas Eve.

Sadly, this is my final composition for this year since my upcoming tracks, "Perfect Gem X" and "Underwater Reggae" were cancelled due to a lack of progress.

WinterHolic (2nd Version)

I just wanted to say that I'm really sorry for not uploading music for almost a year. This is because I'm pretty busy on other things like music exams, drawing, etc.

In the meantime, I present to you my short composition called "IcyBeard's Arpeggio Treasure, Unlike my previous compositions back in 2015, this one sounds completely different from my other works since the PSG sound was rarely used in this song. Not only it's my first composition to use FM synthesis and stereo capabilities, it is also my first musical piece to use a music tracker software. Most of my FM instruments are custom, odd and impressive, though, a bit harsh. It took me 3 days to finish this version.

Originally, I wrote the entire score on Noteflight back in 2016 and then I ported it into PicoEditor with some additional elements such as the aleatory part(the sound quality was a bit thin at times), and then I transferred the score to SunVox as a test to see the song is actually capable of . Fun fact, I demonstrated it at U.W.I. on April 15th 2016 as part of the Music Theory Presentation and my classmates were impressed. However, before that, I originally wrote a different composition called "My Sweet Flowery Place", which was a figured bass piece, but I scrapped the idea because my skills for figured bass was not developed yet (but I got used to it now) but some ideas were later used in Icybeard's Theme such as the Dominant pedal.

The entire composition itself is just a typical pirate theme with some comical moments along with some odd musical structure like unusual chord modulation, time signature and tempo changes. The melodies were done by the FM calliope and that odd FM bell instruments (due to its timbre), and the chords and the bass were done by the FM Honky-Tonk Piano. However, It does have something special. Besides some ornaments here and there, at the end of the song, IcyBeard laughs with glee along with a strange musical accompaniment like the PSG harp on the whole-tone scale, descending electric organs and that bass drone. Pretty creepy, isn't it? (Although the FM laugh sample is not that great, just primitive at best). 

Overall, I found the song to be a bit silly to listen to but somewhat enjoyable at times. :) As of now, this is my recent tune to date. If you find any distortion of the FM instruments, please let me know.

IcyBeard's Arpeggio Treasure / IcyBeard's Theme

This is my new and odd chiptune-esque composition, "ComplX Dream". This is my most ambitious track ever (since the song is 16 minutes long) and it took me more than 2 months to make. And this is my 2nd song for using a Sunvox tracker.

I started making some plans for ComplX Dream back in early 2016 where my music development for Mixcraft 6 was coming to an end during the time. I made some early names like Dreamia,  Esqx, Illusion Dyx, Project: Complex and ComplX Dream 6. I made some early designs for the logo, planned timbres for the pulse wave and several 6-channel samples on flash cards to see how this progress can work. And I also planned to use Mixcraft instruments at one point but I scrapped the idea. Speaking of Mixcraft 6, The song was originally going to be Mixcraft composition at first and I was planning to do some swapping instruments and I set all of the 6 tracks into different colors. Unfortunately, I cancelled this version because of several limitations of Mixcraft, a lack of progress (which was not surprising), various activities, and I was still learning how to make great FM instruments (since I toyed with it back in late 2015). It was planned for a July/August 2016 release but I pushed it back to late May 2017 instead because I have to move the song to a different music software.  The song was also planned to be an 8-minute composition but I extended the length later on. Before I worked on it along with IcyBeard's theme, I had to choose between 2 music programs: OpenMPT or SunVox. And I chose SunVox because It contains analog generators built into the software along with other features. The development of ComplX Dream resumed on late March 2017, I think.

Unlike my previous tracks, this song went into a completely different direction because my 2015 songs didn't aged well and the sound quality reflects that. Firstly, this song uses 6 channels instead of 8. And secondly, instead of having a repetitive nature, the song have a combination of different genres an a variety of short motifs and parts and it focuses on an odd structure, direct modulation, I think, strange timbres for the FM instruments, irregular time signatures, and a little bit of silliness. And this is the first time I used some unusual chords and some dissonant chords (well, I already done it before). Like IcyBeard's theme, everything is in stereo and it has that Sega Megadrive feel since most of my FM instruments are custom and sounded odd and impressive. Thankfully, the chiptune elements made a return especially with the fast arpeggios. And I made two 12-tone pieces and one fugue. And some of the motifs are based on my repertoires. Since the song is large, I can't talk about the entire composition in depth because it's very hard to explain what's going on.

I found this track to be difficult to compose because I had a hard time to came up with a great musical part and I think the sound mixing is out of place and I tried the reduce the instrument's volume so I can hear some other instruments with different parts. It's a challenge for me but I got used to it. However, there are several parts that were scrapped during production like the Panorama part and my first attempt at a fugue. I removed these 2 parts because the Panorama part doesn't fit well since it has a Caribbean feel (although the brief soca part can be found somewhere in the track) and the first fugue sounded too similar to the meme that I know.

I'm not sure if anyone would be interested on this one because of its length and some randomness along the way but I found it a bit unique and intriguing. This is probably my favourite track I've ever worked on because I put much more effort and care to the overall track. However, I felt some of the parts are a bit unfinished, crazy and sometimes ear grating and broken, like the 12-tone parts for instance (the 2nd one is even worse).

This is my only composition to have a 16-minute length and its even more impressive than my other tracks.
