Improv is our bread and butter. This was another improvisation Jon and I performed last summer and it turned out very well at the beginning of last year I recordings you could hear they were not as full, but they progressed overtime and we learned how to record better by learning what not to do and this is an example

We Do NOT OWN copy right on this song. Its a cover close to Nirvana's Unplugged rendition. David Bowie is the song writer, not Kurt Cobain, Andrew Rhodes or Jon Miller. We made our own bass line up because Novoselic's bass line was vanilla. I made up a Bossa Nova bass line and Jon did the rest on the set and he added bongos. Enjoy!

This was a complete experiment and modeled after going through a period of listening to Aenima by TOOL. To this day neither one of us know what time signature its in, but it works. A megaphone was even used on the vocals like Maynard (singer of TOOL). The drums were laid down last and Jon just had listen to it once and then he nailed it in one take. His nickname became "one take Jon" after his performance on this track

Ration

This song was done by The Doors on their last album. WE WROTE NONE OF IT AT ALL, ALL CREDIT GOES TO THE DOORS. We just made it slightly more electric. "Mr. MOJO RISIN"

LA Woman

This is originally by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and written BY JIMI HENDRIX. This is our rendition. It’s a more obscure track by The Experience and on the Are You Experienced lp. Once again, this a show of respect to one of our influences and we took no part in writing it.

This is a cover not written by Saxon Mother, it was written and performed by Lee Hazelwood, a baritone voiced ( I prefer his voice over Johnny Cash) country performer known for his duets was Nancy Sinatra , this is our rendition and tip of our hat to him. Enjoy!

Think Im Comin Down

This is the same music as "Old Country" and since Jon and Drew have Irish in their blood. This song we decided to add lyrics and the first mellow lyrics are sung by Drew and the "Leprechaun" is voice "One take Jon" and he nailed the damn voice perfectly. Enjoy, we would love feedback on this one.

Once again, an unrehearsed jam. We got the name "Medium Rare" from thinking it was a raw improv jam. Guitar was performed on a pink Fender Jagstang, the Kurt Cobain designed guitar

King of Carrot Flowers Pt 1

The music to this song is finished, its actually gonna be the last song on our LP and heavily influenced by "A Day In The Life" by the beatles. You'll hear this obviously from around the middle of the song to the end and especially the very last chord that's struck to finish the song(and album) There are no lyrics or melody yet, but its STILL very entertaining as an instrumental. And if you know the song "A Day In the Life", you'll see exactly what we were getting at.

Echo In the Garden

We are Saxon Mother, a 2 piece rock band based out of Elizabeth City,NC . Andrew Rhodes on guitars and bass and Jon Miller on Drums and percussion. Our first album, which will be a double album, should be released in about 2 months. The first side is actual recorded songs with many different instruments while the second side will be improvisations. We’re heavily inspired by Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Rush, The Doors mainly classic rock, but also literally everything else and we want to play all types of genres instead of sticking with one genre. We feel there should be songs on our albums that at least everyone should like at least one instead of the whole album being one type of music.
