Isa　was written as a gift for my dear friend Gioele Lorenzin and was played at his wedding. The title, Isa comes from the bride’s name, Isabella. It was 2008 when I met Gioele in New York but soon after he went back to his home country, Italy. Years later he returned with a long time girl friend from high school - Isa.　Isa was the sweetest person I had ever met. This ballade makes an attempt to expresses her wonderful characters and the story between my two dear friends.

Gioele grumbled about the fact that I chose her name over his, especially because I was friends with him first. But because she is the most precious thing to him, I figured that naming it Isa would make this piece even more special for him.

Composer, Sayo Kosugi is the recipient of the 2014 Palmer Dixon Prize for Most Outstanding Composition presented by The Juilliard School in New York. Recently composing music for "Vocarion" at Toho Theater that will be premiered this summer. She has also worked with Royal Flanders Ballet (Belgium), Royal Academy of Dance(UK), Violinist Ryu Goto with Asia-America New Music Institute(USA,Japan,Korea,China,Thailand etc), and has been commissioned new works by many music festivals and orchestra, ensembles all over the world.
