The Sutton Bonington Symphony Orchestra is an orchestra established in early 2013 by a group of veterinary students who missed making music. The campus on which they study, Sutton Bonington (of the University of Nottingham), is small and isolated and had no ensembles in which to play. After discovering that many other students felt the same way, the SBSO was born. The first rehearsal was held on the 3rd of February; the first concert on the 19th of May.

The orchestra welcomes staff, students, parents, children and friends of all ages and focusses on performing together. Our repertoire is varied, from classical to film music and musical works - we aim to find something for everyone.

The orchestra is now conducted by Tom Wallage and led by Rachel Whalley. The orchestra president is Josh Williams and the music society president is Amy Stamp. Other members of the committee are Philippa Wood, Sarah Ives and Abi May.
