I've been messing with this off and on for almost 8 months now. It's been in the works for a long ass time so I'm excited to finally share it!

This is a seamless chiptune mix of Hopes and Dreams, Save the World, bits of His Theme, and Last Goodbye. I figured since they all play on the same motifs and arrangements that I might as well do a megamix instead of doing separate tracks.

There's a lot here (85 frames total in the ftm)so I hope it's not too much to get through!

mono no aware (もののあわれ) is the first compilation to be released on PAN, collating unreleased ambient tracks from both new and existing PAN artists.

Featuring Jeff Witscher, Helm, TCF, Yves Tumor, M.E.S.H., Pan Daijing, HVAD, Kareem Lotfy, ADR, Mya Gomez, Sky H1, James K, Oli XL, Bill Kouligas, Flora Yin-Wong, Malibu, and AYYA, the compilation moves through more traditional notions of what is called ’ambient’, to incorporating wider variations that fall under the term.

“Mono no aware”, ‘the pathos of things’, also translates as “an empathy toward things", or "a sensitivity to ephemera”. A term for the awareness of impermanence, or the transience of things. A meditation on mortality and life's transience, ephemerality heightens the appreciation of beauty and sensitivity to their passing. In investigating the passing of time, the boundaries between memory and hallucination become blurred; between fiction and reality. The movement of time transforms into an eternal present.

The album is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring photography by Molly Matalon and design by Bill Kouligas. A limited version of 100 copies will be released as a special art edition in collaboration with Mount Analog for the LA Art Book Fair 2017, before going on general release.

2. Malibu - Held (PAN 77)

BASED ON: A folk melody that has been used for a lot of songs since the 1700-hundreds, so it’s kind of hard to tell where it’s actually from.

It’s my birthday today! So here’s an arrangement that I did earlier this year of the traditional birthday song from Sweden. Since this version doesn’t include the lyrics it feels a bit overkill to translate them, but the gist of it is hoping that whoever has their birthday today is going to live for 100 years. And then when they’ve lived that long they’ll be pushed around in a wheelbarrow for some reason. Fun times.

Made in FamiTracker 0cc, using the 2A03, VRC6, and MMC5 modules. No DPCM samples used.

Following the successful reissue of 'Myam James Part I' in 2018, Lapsus Records once again turns to cult producer Kettel aka Reimer Eising to offer the second instalment of his stunning work that in 2019, also marks ten years since its original release date on Dutch label Sending Orbs. 

'Myam James 2' was the much anticipated continuation of a work that revolutionized the IDM scene and ten years on it sounds as fresh and current as ever. Although it was created as a conceptual extension to its prequel, on this occasion the album’s acid lines seem to develop in a way that allows space for melodic ambient passages and more intimate compositions, revealing Eising’s classical training and incorporating instruments including the cello and acoustic piano. The 'Mayam James 2' blueprint is extraordinary, with energetic braindance and electro tracks interlaced with sonic interludes, often reminiscent of French minimalism and impressionism –'Shinjuku Inn', 'Sauce' and 'Song From 4pm Herring' are good examples of this-. 

This year Lapsus Records will celebrate the tenth anniversary of this audio treasure with a special collectors edition double vinyl pressing, re-mastered by Xavier Alarcón and accompanied by a lithographic print from the original artwork by illustrator Jeroen Advocaat. This deluxe reissue will also contain two unreleased tracks produced at the time of the album’s original release: 'Boltklap' and 'Lisenlily'.

My roommates called me this one day when I knocked the power out to microwave something, crashing (and breaking) Storm Blooper's computer and hindering Double-Gengar's progress in Fallout 3. This one goes out to them. Then there's the SMB2 part, because I'm a Shyguy and all.
