PREMIERES

Epilogue is the concluding passage in SBVRSV’s six year documentation of globalized experimental art and music scenes. Formatted as a compilation release and digital zine, it is divided into 2 parts, each consisting of 9 original music productions contributed by a selection of artists who were involved with SBVRSV or influenced its curatorial vision in some capacity. While several of the artists are Canadian, many acts from a diverse range of international regions were also included with the intention of explicating connections between scenes at the micro and macro level. 

Part 1 is oriented around tracks that tend towards a cerebral ambience and dance or club music-adjacent rhythmic structures.

Their track "Form In Foam" stomps about with good-natured menace, hazy textures framing its lumbering kicks and dominant bassline to propel a grandiose, squelching rain dance.

For Kelvin T’s second full-length album ‘Aerate’, the Hong Kong-based musician utilises sound to mimic a hallucinogenic state of mind, a means to coax listeners into relinquishing control over their consciousness.

After his last album ‘Unlock Voice’, released in late 2018 through Hong Kong-based label Absurd TRAX, Kelvin T has been on the search for a new sonic palette. The result is ‘Aerate’, a collection of songs designed to be consumed like substances, substances that transport you into a state of ‘headbanging relaxation’ (in the words of the artist). Compared to the last album, which focuses on eliciting specific emotions through the association of sounds, ‘Aerate’ aims to transport listeners into an alternate state of mind and body, one that can possibly only be achieved through the use of substances.

The Croydon, UK-based grime producer @bthorough joins the @hi_nrg fold on July 24 with a four track self-titled EP.

Taking inspiration from a slew of grime references, both classic and new-gen, B:Thorough incorporates eski-beat sounds and gliding squarewaves, Devil Mix Drama and era-defining, Boxed-esque instrumentals across the four tracks, all while fine-tuning his soon-to-be signature hi-def and melodic style.

Opener "Turn Back Time" is a starry-eyed, hands-in-the-air kind of tune that's destined to get ravers on the floor - whenever that may be - thanks to its syrupy, earworm-y nature.
