Since mid-2020 Cliff Dalton has been influenced by 80’s soundtracks. setting about to create a blend of dark robotic mechanical and deep electro. As an artist, his use of conceptual themes is constructed of elements that create dense atmospheric soundscapes. Probing as an interface between harsh reality and pure fiction. He reveals a surrealistic emphasis on sonic particles into the realms of electro.

The Dutch West Coast, home of the Hague, where Cliff Dalton resides, the home of a new producer for Specimen Records 2021. Although not new to the world of producing with several years of recording and playing in studios, his attention to detail has helped him develop a retro mapping onto his perception of the future. Possibly influenced by Underground Resistance and Drexciya. This accomplishment becomes a metaphor for any small group of people who are battling against a system. The album is an observation of what’s happening right now around us. Our interaction with technology and media pervasion and the rise of cybernetics, in a world dominated by corporate ideals.

This comes with a more danceable approach. The beat is tight and the swing is irresistible. This is how it’s like to float around, in the ocean, or in your mind. It is all watery business. The melodies are really lifting this tune-up and remind me of old black ‘n white sci-fi flicks.

Andrea Benedetti aka Sprawl, DJ, musician, producer, label owner, radio speaker, promoter, journalist and tout-court divulgador of the "electronic message", Andrea Benedetti is involved in the most important realities coming out from Rome since the very early days ('80s), he has played a crucial role in shaping and developing the so called "Sound Of Rome". In 1993 he founded his very own Plasmek label.

Soviet-bred, Seville-based DJ and producer Rise Black (Maxim Gkikaev) likes to associate with the raw sound of ebm, techno, and especially electro, after moving to Spain over ten years ago. Maxim is part of labels such as NNY, Moustache records, and Another Perspective - where 100 limited copies of his newest album can be found.

Sailing along genres in his industrial conquest, this hour long, vinyl only set attests to his own particular sound while providing warehouse ravers what they want to hear.

Schrödinger’s Box found a true audio delinquent when they discovered Rapha. Resident at Alphabet Club in Tel Aviv, this is a musician who creates tracks with a punk attitude and a painted acid smile. The co-founder of Chateau Royal arrives with four blistering numbers for our box. After the pounding percussion and 303 smears of “Ivanka”, this sidewinder synthesist unfurls the brooding darkness that is “Transform.” Lighter tones pierce the gloom in the carefully crafted “Visionia” before The Exaltics lands for some deep and dreamy electro with an incredible remake of “Voyager101.” Rapha’s original of “Voyager101” closes the 12”. Rasping rhythm patterns cut a path for rich dauby analogue bars in this stripped-back, late-night close.

TL PREMIERE : Rapha - Voyager101 [Schrödinger's Box]

Newly launched Dutch electro label LDI Records follows up their first release from T/Error with a deep and dark four track EP by French producer Franck Kartell.

In a homage to masterful science fiction writer Philip K Dick - Side A of Electric Sheep EP evokes scenes from future mechanised worlds. Electric Sheep kicks the 12” off with a melancholic and contemplative moment followed by a steel cold and brooding venture in Voigt-Kampff.

On the B side of this release, there is a live mix of Kartell's track Electro Music, a futuristic electro work out with kicks for the dancefloor. The EP completes with Victoria - an ode to the electronic musician Victoria Lukas who passed away in 2020 - with a beautifully poised and contemplative track steeped in synths.

Franck Kartell is a French producer who has releases on Between Places, Transient Force, Ukonx Recordings, New Flesh, Bass Agenda and others. Since 2005 he has been producing well thought-out electro music filled with dark atmospheres and driving rhythms.

Specialising in moody, atmospheric electro, LDI Records (Lloyd’s Dark Imperium) are an essential label to watch. Distributed worldwide by Clone Distribution, while the Dutch label’s main focus is on vinyl releases, available in selected record shops across the globe, releases will also be available digitally.

Roberto Rey (better known as Negocius Man)is a Spanish artist that began his career as a DJ in 1997 and as a producer in 1999. His beginings in music date back to the Hip-Hop era of the early 90's and the Electro of the 80's and 90's. He was part of the Hip-Hop group MFD2 along with Mackfrank, Darmo, Julia with her alias Dj. 

He performed in Madrid in clubs such as: Kea, Davai, El Sol, Siroco, Social centers such as Seko, Laboratory, and nationally in Sala El Grito (Murcia), Sala El Arrebato (Zaragoza), The Orritxo (Bilbao). Specka,  BAS (Madrid), My Beat, Femur Fest (2015) in Live format, Three Monkeys Festival, Electrocamp (Valencia), Republik, Moroder Sound Club, Yasta, and many more.

In 1999, he began his first contact with machines such as Roland MC303 and software such as Fruity Loops and Fastracker. In 2000, it is when he begins to use his aka NEGOCIUS MAN. In 2003 he creates What if ... Prods & Mixtapes for the promotion of his music in specialized magazines, in 2005 he disconnected from the world of Hip-Hop almost completely to go further into the Electro and decided in 2007 to create his own club, THE KINGS_ELECTROBAR in Alcázar de San Juan (C. Real)in which he made very good public relations. 

In 2008 he decides to acquire new hardware and returns to Madrid, publishes in ELEKTRODOMESTICOS 2 and 3 in Fundamental Records (Madrid) label where it's usual to find his references on vinyl. Since then he has not stopped publishing in different labels such as Mars Frequency Records (Madrid) , Bankai Records (C.Real), Binalog Frequency Records (Greece), Beathazard (Bcn), Eclectic Reactions Records (Bilbao), Elektrodos (Zamora) Electroclub (Bcn), Urban Connections (Jaen) Crobot Muzik (London / Croatia), Subsonic device (Germany), and since 2014 on its own MICROM RECORDS label.

Across the years he has shared decks with artists such as Awco, Waje DJ, Dj. F, Groof, David Aragon, Durban Noise, Robert Cosmic, The Zenobit3, Julia Pé, Sace 2, Bas Madrid, Eleztrik Body, MEKA, SEEK2012, Darxid, Lektroid, Arch, Fer Xploxion, Antoni Maiovvi, Hyboid, Mauro Nakimi, Vema or Spy, plus many more.

In today's episode Negocius Man has crafted an angular, robotic-rhythmic spacey electro vinyl-only mix. This for sure will pummel the late-hours dancefloor. Whistleblower.

British Electro veteran Bass Junkie returns for his second vinyl outing on Bass Agenda Recordings, this time with a full-length album.

As his last release, ‘Low Frequency Fugitive’ indicated, he has been working hard on developing his trademark sound and taking things forward; no mean feat for someone who has been ahead of his time since he began releasing Electro in the mid-nineties. He has succeeded though and everything he is loved and respected for is here, plus some advanced structures and elements – Bass Junkie evolved – a true Sub Sonic Survivor.

The harder edge is here in tracks such as ‘Blast Them to Infinity!’ and the insanely hard kick of ‘Star Destroyer’. His funkier side shines through too, in tracks like the shimmering space funk of ‘Rum and Raspberries’. For fans of his exceptional vocal work there are treats in store too, particularly in the aggressive attack on the modern state of things that is ‘Reset’.

"Scientists. White lab coats. The whirr of computers. SC-164 was a sonic experiment. Greg Schappert, an electronic musician known as Donor, was the willing subject. Its purpose? To melt man and computer in audio form, machine music created by an artificial being. But soon it became too powerful, self aware. The creators tried to pull the plug. They were too late. Now this assailant floats from machine to machine, communicating its message through serrated snares and bruising bass. SC-164 was cast aside by its makers. Now the project has one objective, to corrupt circuitboards and speakers with an infectious strain of corrosive electro."
