Over the vibrant chords of an acoustic guitar, a voice begins to sing a melancholy melody at a cosmic distance that recalls The xx or London Grammar. This track evokes the mellow sadness of autumn. As you listen and relisten, you spin endlessly against the backdrop of a sharp, haunting arpeggiator that drives this song towards the softly shining stars … far away from yourself.

Early raw punk energy, w drum freakouts, and a bass with a thumping tone. I mean, we can barely hear the guitar here, but I appreciate the suggestion. 

Could this be the equivalent of the Lomax recordings, but instead of blues, it's punks at some dive making their own version of no-wave?

This reminds me of Foams from Texas, if you know that also obscure record.  Collecting these one-offs from underground bands is its own artform.

Randy and The Randies - "Solar Myth" (1980)

Piercing melodic rumble from Honey Radar's Jason Henn. Heavy VU vibes as usual, mixing experimentation with analog layers, hypnotic dissonance, and a soft Nico-ish chorus. I once called him the Madlib of garage-rock for his propensity to collage styles and sounds. This is a new release, and it features a fading solo, cool and laid back like Saturday band practice. Jason Henn - "Kimono Photoshoot" (2020)

Whoa, was not expecting a secret VU cover on this early Chronophage demo. I've seen them come across various sites and reviewers since 2017, but clearly did not pay enough attention. Their second release is coming out November 23 on Cleta-Patra Records, which is run by Candice of Mystic Inane. 

How to describe them succinctly based on the little I've heard? I got it: this is Americana DIY for Tik-Tok! A lot of earnest fiddling, with some chaotic collage. Possibly, the reverse of the Midwest Egg Punks (Lumpy, Coneheads), say maybe, this could be Southern Cow Punks?
