The title 'Myth Machine' demonstrates all the richness of meanings that gives us words connected by genitive case: if you want, read it 'The Mythical Machine', or "The Machine Creating Myths".

Ambiguity here plays into our hands. This epic compilation by NEN Records is dedicated to myths as a ways of giving meaning to the suffocating meaningless reality. It is devoted to narratives, coherent or broken, that each of contributors create by their own lives. Perhaps, therefore, the release turned out to be so poly-stylistic, and there is nothing to be surprised at.

And of course, behind all these narratives, lurks the shadow of a huge and hardly perceived Machine, which severely cuts off the plot lines and - arbitrarily, it would seem, draws new ones.

Note: All tracks on the compilation are created on electronic machines of varying complexity, each of which, for sure, has a hidden desire to tell its own machine myth (and you can even distinguish it).

Beware, Kefka is here. Not one to shy away from carefully placed abrasive sounds, this EP has bags of funk and bags of screech. Opening with what can only be described as the mutated lovechild of the Knight Rider theme tune, the artist continues with some highly jacking material. The original tracks close out with a slice of rave, if that slice was pinned down to either side of a workbench and stretched to within an inch of its life. We welcome back NN, who whacks it all through the 80s grinder and serves up an apocalyptic dessert.

Mechanism is a Rotterdam based organisation focussing on presenting and releasing adventurous techno driven music. The platform explores the boundaries between forefront audio visual explorations and experimental clubculture. The aim of Mechanism is to push the limits of the sonic pallet and to contribute to the intersection of dance floor rituals and abstract sensory experiences.
