Hard-hitting Northern Irish-based producer, DAHRYL, returns for his second out on Soma with the Breaking Ice EP. DARYL has been working tirelessly in the studio of late and has gradually built his reputation as some of the scene’s go-to producers for tough-as-nails techno. This latest EP shows how much his skills have increased as he belts out 3 massive originals backed with a remix from modular guru Ansome.

Title track “Breaking Ice” kicks off the EP in brutal form. Titanic kicks thunder from the off while clever, rhythmic vocal cuts chop alongside razor-sharp percussion as siren-like synths pulse throughout. U.K. techno don Ansome also ramps us his remix skills on “Breaking Ice” – twisting and tearing at the original and turning the track into broken beats that are packed with incessant sonic destruction.

The following track “Dub Smak” picks up the pace whilst keeping things dark and hard, chugging along nicely before a terrorizing synth hook lasers its way through. 

The final track “Ghost Train” brings a more jacking feel to the EP as both kick and bassline pound together with stripped percussion, building through dense atmospherics into a warping synth line.
