Scamp - Live DJ Set @ Outline 2022: "Dutchies Dig Hardcore"

After two years of not having any real big events (due to Corona, obviously) in October 22 our friends at Emergenzy finally had the option to run a proper party again - "The Harder Halls".

On top of this being a well organized event, it had a kick-ass location:

The building used to host the "Palazzo" techno club. Palazzo in 1990s was one of the first venues in Germany playing electronic dance music, and over time became one of the most famous techno clubs in Germany. That's long gone and it has sit there for years unused, but now Emergenzy brought back life.

I had the honor to be playing on the second stage. Emergenzy really is a pure dutch Hardcore / Gabber thing, with most acts playing rather dark tunes at 200+ BPM. It was interesting to see how confusing it was for people to hear happy hardcore at 190 BPM instead. You could see that they really did not know how to dance to that.

Still: I had a gigantic amount of fun, and I think this is the best set I've played so far.

Zenta is a party of the "Demoscene", a world-wide community of computer artists.

As they had to cancel their real-life events due to the Corona outbreak, they instead did some online streaming sessions with various DJs from the Hardcore/Hardtek scene. I've been there for scaring off the kids representing the more cheesy side of Hardcore. With this set social distancing guaranteed.
